Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

News Saturday night reported that former Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves died during his sleep at the age of 32.

It was quite the shock Saturday to hear that Quentin Groves had passed away. The initial cause of death is being reported as a heart attack.

The 32-year-old was in Trinidad, which is where his wife is from, when he passed away in his sleep.

In 2008 medical tests revealed that Groves had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which causes a rapid heartbeat.

Despite his condition, he finished his four year career at Auburn with 26 sacks, tying the all-time school record, and his senior class finished with the most wins of any class with 50.

He was then drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars where he spent two seasons. He spent two more seasons with the Oakland Raiders, one year with Arizona, one with Cleveland and finally one year with Tennessee.

He finished his NFL career after 2014 with 127 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 100 games played. His best season may have come in 2012 with Arizona when he had 34 tackles and 4 sacks playing as a linebacker.

Quentin Groves means a lot to me because he was the best and most polarizing player for Auburn while I was there. He gave it his all on Saturdays, and because of that Auburn fans adored him.

He put fear into opposing quarterbacks and offensive lines, because you couldn’t stop him. As a junior he recorded 12 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in 13 games.

As we mourn the loss of someone from the Auburn family, here are a view videos to remember Groves by.

Here he is leading the band after beating Alabama in the 2007 Iron Bowl:

And here he is causing a big sack against Kansas State that led to a touchdown:

Groves’ life ended far too quickly, but at least we have plenty of great memories to remember him by.

We all love Quentin Groves the Auburn football player, but today we mourn the loss of a great person. I pray that God blesses his soul and watches over his family during this time.

    Rest in peace Quentin Groves.
