Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:51 p.m. ET

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) State authorities say they have found evidence that a former North Carolina State football player may have violated the state's sports agent law.

A search warrant application from an investigator with the North Carolina Secretary of State's office was reviewed Thursday by The Associated Press.

It states a document discovered during a separate investigation indicates that ex-Wolfpack player Eric Leak provided improper benefits to an unidentified athlete at the University of North Carolina.

No charges have been filed. The warrant application does not indicate when the benefits were provided, what they involved or any identifying details about the UNC athlete.

It's unclear what effect the discovery might have on the office's long-running investigation connected to improper benefits for UNC football players. UNC spokesman Steve Kirschner declined comment.
