Central Arkansas gets past NW State 24-10

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Hayden Hildebrand threw touchdown passes to Jatavious Wilson and Desmond Smith in the second quarter to give Central Arkansas the lead and the Bears beat Northwestern State 24-10 in Southland Conference play on Saturday.

Hildebrand, who also ran for a score, was 11-of-20 passing for 136 yards. Wilson pulled in five of those for 72 yards and Smith gathered in four for 57 yards. Antwon Wells rushed for 125 yards on 25 carries for Central Arkansas (2-1, 2-0).

Northwestern State (0-3, 0-2) got on the board when Joel Blumenthal passed to Shakeir Ryan from the 25 to trail 14-7 with 4:46 left in the half.

Hildebrand ran in from the 12 for a 21-7 lead with 9:55 left in the third and Matt Cummins added a 33-yard field goal for a 24-7 advantage.

The Bears will face Arkansas State next Saturday before returning to conference play against Abilene Christian the following Saturday.
