Kyle Newhall-Caballero threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns and Brown overcame a 10-point deficit to edge Stony Brook 21-20 Saturday night in the Bears' season opener.

Newhall-Caballero, a first-team All-Ivy quarterback in 2009 who played in only two games last year before breaking his wrist, threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Tellef Lundevall with 3:06 to go. The Seawolves then got to the Brown 38, where Wesley Skiffington missed a 55-yard field goal attempt with 56 seconds left.

Stony Brook (0-3) took a 17-7 lead with 6:22 to go in the third quarter. After the Bears recovered a fumble on a punt return, Newhall-Caballero threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Alex Tounkara-Kone, who finished with seven catches for 149 yards.

Skiffington kicked a 32-yard field goal, his second of the game, to make it 20-14 with 8:58 to go. The Bears then drove 57 yards for the winning score.
