Bell has 388 yards, NC Central beats Savannah St. 33-3

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Malcolm Bell had 388 total yards and three touchdowns as North Carolina Central beat Savannah State 33-3 on Saturday.

North Carolina Central (5-2, 4-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) picked up its fifth straight win after opening the season 0-2.

Bell, who was intercepted five times, threw for 336 yards and two scores on 28-of-38 passing. He also rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown. The senior now has 6,572 yards of total offense in his career.

The Eagles racked up 422 total yards and 20 first downs while limiting Savannah State (1-4, 1-2) to 141 yards and eight first downs. The Tigers were held to 25 yards in the first half as NCCU led 19-0 at the break.

Mike Jones had a 59-yard punt return in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for the Eagles.

John Barron kicked a 46-yard field goal for Savannah State.
