Balanced attack helps Davidson top Kentucky Wesleyan 35-21

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) Keyland Brown rushed for 103 yards, and Cam Cheuvront and William Wicks each hauled in lengthy touchdown receptions as Davidson jumped on Division-II Kentucky Wesleyan early and often en route to a 35-21 win on Saturday.
Giftson Bornelus' 29-yard sprint gave Davidson (1-1) a 7-0 lead less than four minutes in, and Brown followed with a 15-yard touchdown run. Taylor Mitchell connected with Cheuvront and Wicks on second-quarter touchdown passes of 57 yards and 37 yards, respectively, to give the Wildcats a 28-0 advantage.
After Wicks' score, Keelan Cole returned the ensuing kickoff 81 yards to give Kentucky Wesleyan (0-2) its first points with 1:50 left in the second quarter. He added an 80-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter and finished with eight catches for 194 yards.
The teams combined for 17 penalties and 221 penalty yards and finished 6 of 27 on third down.
