The goals for the Alabama football team were simple: get past this game with no injuries and get some experience for the younger starters and some on down the depth chart.

One of those accomplished but one was in doubt as the game went on. The younger players got some snaps under their belt in the 48-0 win over Kent State but one injury had Tide fans on the worried side.

Early in the first quarter on the very first drive of the game, Tide running back Damien Harris injured his ankle on just his fourth run of the game. Coming off of the field, he had to be helped off because he couldn’t put any weight on it.

After spending some time in the tent, the Tide medical staff carted the Tide’s leading rusher off to the locker room to get checked out. His ankle was heavily taped.

After the game during Coach Nick Saban’s press conference, Saban told reporters on hand that Harris had an ankle sprain and was listed as day-to-day. That sound you hear is a big sigh of relief from Alabama fans.

Fellow running back Bo Scarbrough went out with a thigh bruise and Saban said he could have gone back into the game if needed.

Without Scarbrough and Harris, it gave the younger guys a chance to step up and that they did. Even with those two out, the Tide still tallied 285 yards on the ground.
