Alabama Crimson Tide: Players of the Game, Week 2
The Crimson Tide rolled to their second victory of the season Saturday, defeating the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 38-10.
ICYMI: Alabama Football—Forget One “R” Word, Just Restore Order
The performance of the Crimson Tide was underwhelming at times, causing Coach Nick Saban to say “I don’t know that I’ve ever been this disappointed after winning a game, maybe ever”.
Most coaches would be happy with a 28-point victory over a team that won 12 games last year, but most coaches haven’t won five championships, either.
Despite the general malaise around the field after the win, there were certainly some bright spots, which we’ll take a look at today.
Offensive MVP
Calvin Ridley

Ridley bounced back from an uncharacteristic week 1 performance with an outstanding game, hauling in 9 catches for 129 yards and a touchdown. The Hilltoppers had no answer for the super sophomore and the Alabama faithful were certainly glad to see No. 3 back to form.
Honorable Mentions: ArDarius Stewart (WR), Jalen Hurts (QB), BJ Emmons (RB)
Defensive MVP
Eddie Jackson

Jackson was a beast all day, continuing to make the case for him to be the first safety taken in next year’s NFL draft. His 55-yard interception returned for a touchdown was the highlight of the entire game.
Honorable Mentions: Jonathan Allen (DE), Ronnie Harrison (CB)
Special Teams MVP
JK Scott
Scott is probably going to occupy this spot for the foreseeable future, barring a kick return TD or Adam Griffith suddenly turning into Adam Vinatieri. JK punted the ball 5 times with an average of 46.4 yards per kick.
Check back next week for the players of the week against Ole Miss.
