Advanced stats say 10 wins in reach for Nittany Lions
Penn State has not hit double-digit wins in a season since 2009, but SBNation's advanced statistical projections indicate that streak could come to an end this season.
Among factors Bill Connelly cites in his annual preview of PSU are the likelihood the offense will improve with a year of seasoning for quarterback Christian Hackenberg and most of his supporting cast (though "supporting" might be a misnomer when talking about last year), the potential for Akeel Lynch to bring some big-play ability to the running back position and the defense returning the majority of its top players at each level.
Strength (or, more accurately, lack thereof) of schedule is also a factor along with turnover luck (which tends to swing from one season to the next).
Of course these are just projections. How will it all play out? We'll have to wait until fall to find out.
