ACC Football: Halloween costumes for the Coastal Division

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 9:06 p.m. ET

Last Season around Halloween I did a perfect costumes for each Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division team.  As one to not break with tradition, yes one year makes a tradition, I decided to give it another go.

Though there won’t be any games on Halloween, as there was last year, this should still be fun.

As we enter into Halloween Weekend, the races in both the Coastal and Atlantic divisions are pretty interesting.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have a bye week and with the first College Football Playoff poll being released next week, the Tar Heels are hoping they can get into an important bowl game.

With just three Coastal Division games left, and a game against The Citadel, we are getting down to the nitty gritty.  But let’s talk more about these costumes.

As always we will start with the team at the bottom of the rankings.

Virginia: RB Taquan Mizzell as Ghost Rider

Did you know Virginia played North Carolina the week before Halloween weekend as well?

Last season I nominated him to be Where’s Waldo. This season the running back known as Smoke, gets an upgrade. Just like the Spirit of Vengeance, Mizzell will leave opponents in his blazing tracks.

The only difference is that he doesn’t need a car or motorcycle to do it.

Duke: Head Coach David Cutcliffe as Lucy Ricardo.

A bit dated right?

Well it was the best I could think of. The recent whining by the Blue Devil head coach reminded me of the red head from the old black and white show.

Her Wahhhh’s are a television classic, just like Coach Cutcliffe’s complaints about the refs and rule book.

Sorry, Duke.

Georgia Tech: Head Coach Paul Johnson as the Walking Dead Zombie.

Look at the beginning of the season I would never have guessed this. However, another subpar season and the Yellow Jackets Head Coach may be on his way out.

With The Walking Dead returning this past week, this was the perfect chance to give you the best of both worlds.

This one could change quickly, but as of right now, the triple option coach might be going through the motions.

By the way, you should give FanSided’s awesome The Walking Dead site a follow.

Miami: Miami fans as Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown would always believe that Lucy would not move the football when he went in to kick it.

He would just talk himself in to the fact that this time would be different. Every time though, she would move the football and Charlie Brown would go falling the ground. Miami fans I feel for you, but you guys are Charlie Brown.

Every year you believe this is the year. Miami would do something like start the season 4-0 and make it into the top ten. Every year though, they would stumble down the stretch and fail to win the Coastal.

This year is no different, but like Charlie Brown, you still believe this year will be.

Pittsburgh: RB James Conner as Jon Snow

Like Jon Snow, Conner has risen from the dead this season.

Not literal death, of course. After a lost season of injuries and cancer, Conner has returned as strong as his ACC player of the year status.

The Junior running back already has 531 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games this season.

And just like his Game of Thrones Counterpart, he is carrying a team on his back to victory.

North Carolina: QB Mitch Trubisky as the Green Arrow

Is there really a better choice than the sharpshooter from the DC Universe? Green Arrow rarely misses his target and the same can be said about Mitch Trubisky.

In the Heel’s six wins this season, Mitch has completed 166 of his 212 passes for a completion percentage of 78%.

In those games, he also has 18 touchdowns and zero interceptions and is averaging over 350 yards per contest. If North Carolina is to stay on target, they need Trubisky too as well.

Virginia Tech: The Whole team as the Cast from Orange is the New Black

I was originally going to say something about Aquaman and how the Hokies played so good against UNC in the water.

Then I was reminded of the game that might come back and haunt them, Syracuse. With that in mind there was only one costume that fit the way Virginia Tech felt after that game.

The Orange left them seeing black, Johnny Cash style.
