Winthrop 53, Presbyterian 51
Charles Corbin scored 13 points, including a free throw with 0.3 seconds remaining and Winthrop rallied to beat Presbyterian 53-51 on Friday night.
Winthrop trailed 51-46 with 1:10 remaining and finished on a 7-0 run. Winthrop's Reggie Middleton made one of two free throws with 1.2 seconds to play for a 52-51 lead, then the Blue Hose turned the ball over on the inbound pass and fouled Corbin, who made one free throw to seal the win.
Presbyterian led the entire first half and built a 15-point lead in the second half.
Robbie Dreher added 11 points and Andre Jones had 10 for Winthrop (6-7), which snapped a two-game losing streak. The rally was sparked by 50-percent (13 of 26) shooting in the second half.
Khalid Mutakabbir and Pierre Miller each scored 14 points, and Al'Lonzo Coleman had 11 points and 16 rebounds for Presbyterian (6-8), which has lost two straight.
