The Missouri Valley Conference publicly reprimanded Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall for inappropriate comments made after the Shockers' one-point loss to Illinois State in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

After the loss, Marshall complained about several aspects of the game including a technical foul on center Garrett Stutz, saying that those in charge must not have wanted to see Stutz play.

League policy prohibits public criticism of game officials or of the conference, the school said in a statement Tuesday. The conference added that rules violations can lead to a private or public reprimand, or to game suspensions.
