Watts, Rowe lead Southern Miss past Alabama A&M, 63-55

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) Rasheem Watts scored 19 points and Tim Rowe added another 17 off the bench as Southern Mississippi kept Alabama A&M winless through four games with a 63-55 win Monday night.

Kevin Holland's jumper with 1:26 left gave the Golden Eagles an 11-point lead, 61-50. De'Edrick Petty got the Bulldogs within six, 61-55 in the final minute, but Southern Miss tacked on a pair of Rowe free throws for the final margin.

Southern Miss held a 38-27 lead at intermission. Watts dunked 14 seconds into the second half to make it a 13-point lead, but the Golden Eagles did not score again until Watts' layup with 16:03 left.

Watts was 6 of 7 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line for Southern Miss. Rowe was 5 of 7 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line and grabbed nine rebounds.

Petty finished with 10 points for Alabama A&M.
