Texas St. 93, S. Dakota 92
Brooks Ybarra hit two free throws with 4 seconds left and scored a career-high 29 points, and Texas State survived a furious South Dakota comeback and escaped with a 93-92 win Saturday night.
Louie Krogman, who tied his own career high with 37 points, had put South Dakota (9-17) ahead 92-91 when he converted a three-point play with 14 seconds left, capping a 22-9 run over the previous 3:15.
But on the ensuing possession, Krogman fouled Ybarra, who sank both foul shots to put the Bobcats (11-15) back in front. Krogman's desperation 3-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.
Vonn Jones added 18 points, Reid Koenen 17 and Matt Staff 15 for Texas State. Trevor Gruis had 23 points and Charlie Westbrook 18 for South Dakota, which shot 51 percent from the field but committed 18 turnovers.
The BracketBusters matchup was the first-ever meeting between the schools.
