Recap

The Islanders played the Aggies tough for most of the night. At halftime the Islanders held a 20-15 edge in rebounds and trailed by 12 points. Texas A&M would try to put them away for much of the half but the road team found a way to stay in the game through most of the second half.

Tyler Davis led the way for Texas A&M, scoring a career high 25 points. Davis shot 9 of 12 from the field and hit 7 of 9 free throws. He added eight rebounds and a block. The sophomore center was one of three Aggies that reached double digits.

DJ Hogg had a cold shooting night from the field. That didn’t seem to phase the Aggie offense, which found ways to get the ball inside and keep scoring. The focus on points in the paint propelled the maroon and white to a 54.4 percent shooting percentage. That mark is several points better than their season shooting percentage of 46.0 percent.

Ultimately it was Texas A&M that used a late run to put the game out of reach in the final minutes of the second half. The Aggies improved to 5-2 on the season and will host Denver on Wednesday night. They will have four more non-conference games before the SEC slate begins on December 29th in Reed Arena against the Tennessee Volunteers.
