Sacred Heart holds off Wagner 67-58 in upset

NEW YORK (AP) Cane Broome scored 17 points in a balanced attack and swung momentum with some relentless 3-point shooting just before halftime as Sacred Heart upended Wagner 67-58 on Sunday, dropping the Seahawks from first place in the Northeast Conference.
With his team trailing by seven late in the first half, Broome popped a 3-pointer, sank two free throws after being fouled chasing down a Tevin Falzon block of a Wagner shot, and then drained two more 3s as the Pioneers surged ahead 37-31 at the break.
Sacred Heart (5-14, 4-4 Northeast) fended off Wagner nearly all the way through the second half with 13 points from Falzon, 11 each from Jordan Allen and Quincy McKnight and 10 from Matej Buovac.
The Pioneers shot 56 percent from the field after halftime and scored 22 points off 16 Wagner turnovers.
Corey Henson led Wagner (12-7, 5-3) with 17 points.
