S.C.-Upstate 59, Florida Gulf Coast 52

Nick Schneiders had his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds as South Carolina-Upstate held off Florida Gulf Coast 59-52 on Thursday night to snap a three-game skid.

Ryan LeGates added 12 points and Mezie Uzochukwu had 10 for the Spartans (6-22, 6-13 Atlantic Sun Conference).

The Eagles (8-21, 5-15) jumped out to a 16-8 lead, but S.C.-Upstate used a 15-4 run to lead 23-20 with 5:27 left.

Reed Baker scored six of Florida Gulf Coast's last eight points of the first half for a 35-34 Eagles advantage at the break.

The game was tied nine times, and S.C. Upstate took the lead for good with 9:06 left on a Chalmers Rogers jumper to make it 47-46. The Spartans hit 8 of 10 free throws in the last 6:30 to seal the win.

Baker and Kyle Marks led the Eagles with 12 points apiece.

Florida Gulf Coast had 21 turnovers to S.C.-Upstate's 16.
