Presbyterian pulls ahead of UNC Asheville 72-71

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) Jordan Downing scored 31 points and Reggie Dillard hit a 3-pointer to give Presbyterian a one-point advantage, as the Blue Hose defeated UNC Asheville 72-71 on Saturday night.

Trailing since the score was tied at 2-2, Presbyterian went on a 12-2 run to tie it up at 48 with 11:54 left to play. The Blue Hose (6-21, 2-10 Big South) moved ahead for the first time after Downing made a 3-pointer with 9:18 left on the clock, and Ed Drew followed with a layup to push their lead to three.

The Bulldogs (13-13, 7-5) took back the lead with 4:14 left, and held it until Dillard hit a 3-pointer for Presbyterian with 19 seconds remaining, for what would be the last score of the game.

Both Dillard and William Truss finished with 12 points, and Truss added 16 rebounds.

D.J. Cunningham scored 23 points for UNC Asheville.
