WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) Monmouth University has given basketball coach King Rice a three-year contract extension through 2019.
Monmouth announced the deal Thursday. Financial terms were not immediately available.
Rice, who is in his fourth year with the Hawks, originally signed a five-year contract in 2011.
Monmouth opens its 2014-15 campaign Friday when it plays at West Virginia.

Athletic director Marilyn McNeil says she is confident in Rice's work and believes in his vision for the team's future.
