LIU Brooklyn beats Central Connecticut 76-67

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Jerome Frink scored 19 points and LIU Brooklyn beat Central Connecticut State 76-67 on Monday night.

Frink was 9 of 16 from the floor as the Blackbirds (7-6, 1-1 Northeast) shot over 46 percent and made 4 of 13 from beyond the arc. Martin Hermannsson had 17 points with six assists, Aakim Saintil scored 16 points and Joel Hernandez added 11.

Central Connecticut (1-12, 0-2) was led by Mustafa Jones with 15 points. Austin Nehls had 14 points and seven boards, while Khalen Cumberlander scored 13 points and Tidell Pierre chipped in 10.

LIU Brooklyn scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed. The Blackbirds led by as many as 15 in the first half before CCSU used a 13-4 run to trim its deficit to eight, 37-29, at intermission.

Brandon Peel's jumper with 14:15 left pulled CCSU to within five, but that's as close as it got in the second half.
