Rico Hines, the Golden State Warriors' assistant for player development the last four season, has been hired as an assistant coach by St. John's.
Hines was part of the UCLA program for five seasons under new St. John's coach Steve Lavin, who announced the hiring on Monday.
In his role with Golden State, the 32-year-old Hines worked closely on the court with players throughout the season to assist in their overall development and game preparation. Hines was also involved with the players' offseason training.
A native of Greenville, N.C., Hines graduated from UCLA in 2002 after serving as team captain his final three seasons.
