Hampton 54, Howard 48
Michael Freeman scored 20 points to lead Hampton to a 54-48 win over Howard on Thursday night. Freeman, who was 5-for-10 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, added seven rebounds for the Pirates (15-15, 8-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Hampton won three of its last four games to end their regular season. Hampton held a slim 25-23 lead at halftime, and the game was tied three times in the second half. But a 3-pointer from Jordan Brooks capped a 7-0 run for the Pirates, making the score 43-36 with 9:55 left. Hampton never relinquished their lead again. Paul Kirkpatrick led Howard (8-22, 6-10) with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Eugene Myatt added 11 points. Hampton benefited from Howard's 18 turnovers, despite the Pirates shooting only 17.6 percent from 3-point range (3-for-17).
