Gardner-Webb beats Radford 83-61 behind McBride's 24

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) Harold McBride scored 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting with a career-high nine assists and Gardner-Webb beat Radford 83-61 on Saturday to win its fifth straight game.

Tyrell Nelson scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds for his sconference-leading seventh double-double.

Isaiah Ivey added 10 points for the Bulldogs (10-8, 5-1 Big South Conference) who shot 53 percent and led by as many as 23 points. Laquincy Rideau had four steals.

Up 32-24 in the first half, Nelson sparked a 20-4 run with a jumper at 6:06 and the Bulldogs led 49-28 at halftime. McBride scored 15 in the half and the Bulldogs shot 67 percent from the field and 7 of 12 from long distance.

The Bulldogs shot 53 percent for the game and made 9 of 19 3-pointers, but their bench was outscored by Radford's 28-17.

Rashun Davis scored 14 points for the Highlanders (9-8, 2-3).
