Frink's 27 point effort helps LIU Brooklyn escape in OT
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Jerome Frink scored 27 points, added nine rebounds and four assists, and LIU Brooklyn escaped with an 82-78 win over UMass Lowell in overtime on Saturday.
Iverson Fleming drilled a 3 on the opening possession of the extra period, combining with a Frink layup to give the Blackbirds (5-1) a quick 73-68 lead.
The River Hawks managed to cut it to 73-72 on a Jahad Thomas jumper with 2:57 to go. But layups by Fleming and Nura Zanna coupled with a free throw by Frink pushed it back to 80-74, and UMass Lowell never recovered.
Flemming scored 16 to go with five assists and four steals while Zanna had 15 points and 12 boards for LIU Brooklyn.
Tyler Livingston matched Frink with a game high 27 for the River Hawks (2-5), including 7 of 10 from deep. Thomas added 21 form UMass Lowell.
