Er leads balanced Maine attack in 80-58 win over Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) Ilker Er scored 16 points and Wesley Myers added 15 as Maine beat Longwood 80-58 on Sunday on the strength of a strong second-half performance.

Danny Evans' layup with 36 seconds left before halftime gave the Black Bears a 33-29 lead at intermission. Out of the break, Er made three 3s to push the lead to 42-31 with 16:10 to play.

Maine (1-1) had five, double-digit scorers, 38 points in the paint and 31 points off the bench.

Isaiah Walton's layup cut the lead to 53-44 with 10:54 to play marking the last time Longwood (1-1) would have a single-digit deficit.

Myers scored back-to-back for Maine during a 9-0 run that moved the Black Bears' lead to 65-46. Myers added eight rebounds for the second-straight game.

Darrion Allen led all scorers with 18 points, and Walton and Khris Lane added 16 and 14 points respectively for the Lancers.
