Campbell leads Southern Miss over Union 60-44

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) Quinton Campbell scored 13 points and Southern Mississippi pulled away midway through the second half for a 60-44 victory over Division II Union on Friday night.

Southern Miss (2-1) bounced back from a 78-68 loss at LSU on Tuesday. Campbell also had a team-high 13 points against the Tigers.

Ashanti Day converted a 3-point play and had a dunk to pull Union to 41-37 with 9:21 remaining. Southern Miss closed on a 19-7 spurt to end it. Eddie Davis and Tim Rowe scored seven points apiece during the stretch.

Davis had nine points and a career-best 12 rebounds. Rowe finished with 11 points. Michael Ramey added 10 points for the Golden Eagles.

Day scored 14 points to lead Union, which made 14 of 52 field-goal attempts for just 27 percent shooting. Jarad Scott added 11 points and 13 rebounds.
