Announcer's call may have been better than Stephen Thompson's game-winner

Published Feb. 25, 2016 12:19 p.m. ET

Wednesday night's battle between bubble teams Oregon State and Washington came down a controversial final play.

With 3.3 seconds remaining, Oregon State freshman guard Stephen Thompson Jr. went down the floor and pulled off for an off-balance 3-pointer. His shot went through and the Beavers stole an 82-81 win from the Huskies. Although it appears the clock may not have started on time, and it also looks like Thompson may have committed a traveling violation before attempting his game winner.

But Wednesday night's thrilling end to an important conference game gave us an incredible call from KBVR TV announcer Brendan Slaughter.

Thompson recorded a career-best 18 points off the bench for the Beavers. Andrew Andrews scored 30 points in a losing effort.

In the latest bracket projection, Oregon State was listed as a No. 10 seed. Washington was in the "Next Four Out" group.
