SAN ANTONIO (AP) Nick Allen scored 14 of his career-high 18 points in the first 4 1/2 minutes of the game and added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season to lead UT San Antonio to a 64-56 victory over Southern Miss on Thursday night.

After Giovanni De Nicolao opened the scoring for UT San Antonio with a layup, Allen took over. The junior forward scored on a tip-in, a jumper, a layup and two 3-pointers to help the Roadrunners (16-12, 9-6 Conference USA) jump out to a 14-3 lead. George Willborn III had a tip-in and Allen added a layup to push the lead to 28-6.

Southern Miss pulled within 45-43 on a Cortez Edwards layup with 10:46 left, but Allen scored to begin and end an 11-0 run that settled matters.

The Roadrunners, who have already set a school record with 276 3-pointers this season, added nine more on 27 attempts (33 percent). UTSA struggled from inside the arc - making 18 of 52 attempts (35 percent).
