Ahearn paces Binghamton with 27 in win over Ave Maria

AVE MARIA, Fla. (AP) Bobby Ahearn scored 27 points and added five rebounds to help Binghamton cruise to a 95-77 win over NAIA Ave Maria University on Tuesday night.
Ahearn shot an economical 11 of 13 from the field and 4 of 4 at the free throw line. Fard Muhammad finished with 16 points and Marlon Beck added 13 for the Bearcats (3-2), who shot a crisp 60 percent from the field and 16 of 20 at the line.
Deonte' Dixon hit seven 3-pointers and matched Ahearn with 27 points to lead Ave Maria. Exor Torres added 18 points and 10 boards for the Gyrenes.
Binghamton led just 46-40 at halftime but opened the second period on a 9-0 run, capped by a Timmy Rose jumper, for a 55-40 lead. A Muhammad 3-pointer with 14:53 left extended the lead to 20 (63-43) and the Bearcats coasted from there.
