Opens scoring Sunday
Anton scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Sunday's 3-2 win versus FC Heidenheim. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 49th minute.
Impact
Anton opened up the scoring Sunday with an unassisted goal in the 44th minute following a corner kick. It marked his second goal in Bundesliga play this season and his first since the season opener. He contributed well on the defensive end too as he made eight clearances and won one tackle in his full 90 minutes of action.

Starting Sunday
Anton (illness) is in the starting XI for Sunday's match against Heidenheim.
Impact
Anton was training individually, and that has led to his return, with the defender finding a spot in the starting XI immediately. He should remain in this role moving forward when fit, having yet to miss a start all season when fit.

Trains individually, late call
Anton (illness) has trained individually and is questionable for Sunday's match against Heidenheim, according to manager Niko Kovac.
Impact
Anton is still dealing with an illness and will need to make some improvements to make the team sheet Sunday, with the defender only training individually. This continues to be something to watch as they continue without a starter in the defense. If he is to be left out again, then Nico Schlotterbeck, Ramy Bensebaini and Emre Can are set to start if this is the case.

Dealing with illness
Anton missed Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League due to an illness, according to Sky Sports Deutschland.
Impact
Anton has been a key player for Dortmund in recent weeks and his absence was greatly felt in the loss to Inter Milan. It remains to be seen if he'll recover in time to play Heidenheim on Sunday on a quick turnaround. If he doesn't, look for Filippo Mane to get another start at center-back.

Starting vs. Frankfurt
Anton (hamstring) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Frankfurt.
Impact
Anton used the break between December and January to recover from a hamstring injury, and the defender will get a nod in the starting lineup right away. Anton will slot at center-back in a back three next to Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Ready to play
Anton (hamstring) has returned to team training and is expected to be available for upcoming contests. The team reported that the player said "I worked a lot in my spare time and h...
Impact
Anton had been sidelined since Dec. 10, with the team resorting to a back three made up of Niklas Sule, Emre Can and Nico Schlotterbeck over that span. However, perhaps the former two of those players will be at risk of losing their spots when Anton is back in the lineup. Prior to his injury, he scored two goals while averaging 4.8 clearances and 1.8 tackles per game in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Could miss several weeks
Anton (hamstring) could miss several weeks after suffering an injury in Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Glimt in the Champions League, according to BILD.
Impact
Anton held his hamstring before being forced off in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Glimt, and a muscle fiber tearing is feared for the center-back. If that injury is confirmed after the scans he will likely undergo in the coming hours, Anton will likely miss several weeks and return early January to competition. Ramy Bensebaini will get a larger role in the back-three while Anton is sidelined.

Forced off early
Anton was forced off with an apparent injury during Wednesday's clash with Glimt.
Impact
Anton is struggling with an apparent injury and had to be brought off. He was holding his hamstring before Daniel Svensson came on to replace him. If it does end up being a hamstring injury it's unlikely Anton could be back for a Sunday trip to Freiburg. Svensson is a left-back, which would push Ramy Bensebaini back to central defense.

Nets rare goal
Anton scored one goal to go with two shots (two on goal) in Wednesday's 4-1 loss versus Manchester City.
Impact
Anton had one of the few bright spots for Dortmund in Wednesday's loss, scoring their lone goal of the match in the 72nd minute. This is a rare goal for the defender, as it was his first in UCL play and only his second of the campaign, scoring in the season opener. He would also add one tackle won and an interception in the defense.

Solid for draw
Anton had one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus RB Leipzig.
Impact
Anton wasn't tested overly often during Saturday's draw, and he made the most of his occasional chances to foray forward. He took a single shot and created a chance in one of those runs into the attack. Anton's upside still comes from his defensive duty and clean-sheet chances, especially as Dortmund are hitting their stride after a slow start to the campaign.

Scores from defense
Anton scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-3 draw against FC St. Pauli.
Impact
Anton recorded a goal to help give BVB the draw Saturday. This was also just his third career Bundesliga goal with Dortmund, recording two from the defense last season. He has been a solid addition to the back line, having kept five clean sheets and producing 110 clearances and 34 tackles in 26 appearance in 2024/25.

Solid first season with Dortmund
Anton started in 22 of his 26 appearances while registering two goals and two assists to go along with 30 interceptions, 34 tackles and 110 clearances.
Impact
Anton saw a decent first spell with Dortmund after joining from Stuttgart this offseason, seeing a regular starting role and maintaining that role through the season. He would only truly miss time when injured, proving to be a strong duo alongside Nico Schlotterbeck in the middle of the defense. He will hope to see more than his five clean sheets next campaign, but will be happy to have reached a new career-high for goal contributions in a season with four.

Bags winner against Hoffenheim
Anton scored a goal off his lone shot, made one tackle, four clearances and one interception and was shown a yellow card during Saturday's 3-2 win over Hoffenheim.
Impact
Anton didn't have his usual numbers on defense but more than made up for that on the attacking end as he used a well-placed right-footer to send the ball into the empty net for the goal that sealed the 3-2 win deep into second half's stoppage time. With two goals, six shots, nine tackles, 38 clearances and 12 interceptions over his last six starts, the center-back is enjoying his best form of the year exactly when his team needs the most.

Nets in draw
Anton scored one goal to go with two shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 2-2 draw versus Bayern Munich.
Impact
Anton scored a rare goal during Saturday's Der Klassiker draw. The central defender isn't a consistent offensive threat, but he has been solid whenever he's in the starting XI. Anton should continue to see chances in the starting XI, though Dortmund have rotated consistently.

Starting again after absence
Anton has started in the club's last two contests after going unused or appearing off the bench in their previous seven games.
Impact
Anton looks to have reclaimed his spot in the starting XI after losing a spot for around a month, as he started in their last two games for a total of 162 minutes of play. He has started in 18 of his 26 appearances this season, so he does see decent time when given the chance. That said, he will hope this spot sticks, although the club has favored Nico Schlotterbeck and Emre Can in the center of the defense at points this season.
