NARRATOR: A return to Stuttgart for Timo Werner, the club who's ranks he came through before the move to Leipzig. Mario Gomez was banging form for the home side with four goals from five games. Stuttgart, as a team, had been flying under new coach Tayfun Korkut, and they gave Leipzig one or two things to be concerned about in the first half. [INAUDIBLE] failure to hold an [INAUDIBLE] free kick lead to a pinball sequence. Leipzig, trying to end a three game winless run in the Bundesliga, were having trouble expressing themselves.

Things looked up a bit for the visitors for Naby Keita's attempt forced a fine on Robert Zeiler's save following a deflection off Holger Badstuber. The first half was ebbing away when Keita teed up Werner, only for the youngest player ever to hit 150 Bundesliga appearances to miss out completely. Not really a first half for World Cup winners.

Joachim Low, former Stuttgart coach, was no doubt hoping for a better second 45. Yussuf Poulsen playing to the exclusion of his Jean-Kévin Augustin set up the opportunity for Keita here, but he struggled in the shooting department all day long. Leipzig might need inspiration from Keita when they travel to St. Petersburg in the Europa League on Thursday.

Stuttgart had a rugged quality about them, and twice, Leipzig's young defender Ibrahima Konaté had to intervene as the ball bobbled around inside the area. It just wouldn't go in for Stuttgart. No question of handball.

10 minutes from time, a deft Emiliano Insúa cross [INAUDIBLE] Mario Gomez header, but wide. Still, he liked the service. Stuttgart remained undefeated with Tayfun Korkut in charge six games now. Leipzig, with just two points from their last four league matches, have work to do.
