Two saves in win
Romero made two saves and allowed one goal during the 3-1 win over Toronto on Thursday.
Impact
Romero did a solid job babysitting the net while Matt Freese was out with the USMNT. He allowed just two goals in the three games played, making 10 saves while holding on to a clean sheet in that span. With Freese back, the keeper will likely return to the bench, however could see more starts in the future as a regular starter, if Freese decides to leave the club amid his upstanding performance at the Gold Cup.

ROTOWIRE
Signs with NYCFC
Romero has signed a contract to join New York York City FC out of free agency, the club announced Wednesday.
Impact
Romero will remain in the MLS for his next season of professional football, having signed a one-year contract with the club, holding options to extend until the 2026 campaign. The goalie previously played with LAFC and Toronto FC, totaling 24 appearances between the two teams while registering four clean sheets, 41 goals allowed and 57 saves. The 23-year-old most likely won't see much time as a starter this season, as he will probably only earn a role as a reserve option. He'll have to beat out Matt Freese and Luis Barraza if he wants any chance at seeing the field over the next year.

ROTOWIRE
Concedes four in soft performance
Romero pulled off one save and conceded four goals in Wednesday's 4-0 loss to Inter Miami CF.
Impact
Romero lacked sharpness on Wednesday, he only managed to stop one of the five attempts he faced on-target. He fumbled a cross that led to Miami's opening goal, and should have done better to stop subsequent strikes from Robert Taylor and Benjamin Cremaschi. The regular starter is having a poor season, he has conceded 13 (2.2 goals per game), managed 23 saves (3.8 saves per game, 64 percent) and has yet to post a clean sheet.

Decent despite loss
Romero had six saves and allowed two goals in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Impact
Romero had a decent game in net despite the loss, making six saves while allowing two goals. The 22-year-old was just recently moved between the sticks for Toronto, with both Greg Ranjitsingh and Sean Johnson out with injuries. He has only played in five matches but is yet to earn a clean sheet, allowing nine goals and making 22 saves during that span. Things will not get any easier for the young keeper in his next match when he heads down to Miami to take on Lionel Messi and Inter Miami.

Concedes goal during win
Romero registered one save and allowed one goal in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against Philadelphia Union. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 87th minute.
Impact
Despite saving a shot from Jesus Bueno, Romero did not do the same with such by Julian Carranza. Fortunately for the goalkeeper, Toronto FC logged multiple goals en route to a much-needed win. The team ended an eight-game losing streak dating back to June. During the streak, Romero conceded six goals without any clean sheets across his three appearances.

Romero has been called up by the El Salvador National Team for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League fixtures on March 22 and 27.

ROTOWIRE
Moving to Toronto
Romero was selected by Toronto FC with the second pick in Stage 1 of the 2022 MLS Re-Entry Draft on Thursday, after LAFC declined his contract option for 2023.
Impact
Romero was surplus to requirements as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Maxime Crepeau and John McCarthy as LAFC won both the Supporters' Shield and the MLS Cup in 2022. The 21-year-old has four clean sheets in 18 MLS appearances to his name from the 2021 campaign, and he has the chance to become a starter once again as he moves to Toronto, whose only other goalkeeper at the moment is Greg Ranjitsingh.

ROTOWIRE
Should be available
Romero's name doesn't appear on the injury list ahead of Friday's match against the LA Galaxy.
Impact
Romero is the third option on the depth chart and unlikely to play even when available, so this mainly serves to shorten the list among his club's absent players.
