Toma Basic - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

On track for Atalanta contest Basic (foot) has been spotted in training throughout the week and should be called up for Monday, La Gazzetta dello Sport relayed.

Impact Basic has been dealing with a mild case of plantar fasciitis for about a month but appears to have recuperated and should at least be a bench option. He had started twice to open the season, but Simon Sohm and Thorir Helgason could get the call over him in this one. He has posted three key passes, 11 crosses (three accurate) and two tackles (both won) so far.

Impact Basic picked up some discomfort in the final practice, as he hadn't been mentioned by the coach in the pre-game presser. He could be replaced by Simon Sohm or Matteo Dagasso. Antoine Hainaut can also play in the role, opening a spot on the wing for Pasquale Mazzocchi or Richie Sagrado.

Impact Basic was one of the most influential men for his club and led it in two offensive categories, but a few of his quality feeds weren't exploited. He's ahead of Simon Sohm in the pecking order for the time being. He logged two goals, three assists, 30 shots (12 on target) and 48 crosses (18 accurate) in 23 games with Lazio last year.

Impact Basic did his part in the midfield despite the rough loss and put together a pretty well-rounded stat line. Impact Basic was a big offensive presence, leading his team in key passes, and rifled it home from the middle of the box while trailing a counter. It's his second goal in the season. He'll likely stay ahead of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the pecking order if he avoids further injuries. He has tallied eight shots (two on target), five chances created and two tackles (both won) in his last five showings (all starts). He interrupted a four-game string with one or more crosses.

Impact Basic returned to the stat sheet after a fairly severe injury but wasn't deployed right away. Unavailable versus Cagliari Basic (thigh) hasn't been called up for Saturday's game against Cagliari.

Absent versus Atalanta Basic (thigh) hasn't been selected for Saturday's clash against Atalanta.

Impact Basic made a token appearance on the bench in Coppa Italia after getting hurt last week, but has been ruled out altogether for this one. He is iffy also for the next couple of matches. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Nicolo Rovella and Reda Belahyane will pick up the slack in the midfield.

Impact Basic hasn't trained much since getting up last week, but he was technically an option a few days later, although he was unfit to play. He's in slightly better shape, but he wouldn't be guaranteed to get minutes even if he made the game-day squad list. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has an edge over Reda Belahyane to take his place in the XI.

Impact Basic managed to go to distance after skipping two fixtures because of a muscular injury, but featured in a less dynamic role than usual without Danilo Cataldi (suspension), and his output suffered. He'll split duties with Matias Vecino and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru in the next few matches, while newcomer Kenneth Taylor appears to have secured a regular spot already. Basic has registered seven shots (three on target), six chances created and 16 crosses (nine accurate) in his last six appearances.

Impact Basic isn't 100 percent after missing two matches but could be thrust into the XI since Daniele Cataldi is suspended, Nicolo Rovella is iffy and Matias Vecino (thigh) is coming off an injury as well. Reda Belahyane and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are the only healthy midfielders. Basic has notched six shots (three on target), six key passes and 15 crosses (nine accurate) in his last five showings (all starts).
