Unfortunately for the midfielder, he will not return to the World Cup due to the injury, potentially now also set to miss the entire league season. Unfortunately for the midfielder, this will knock him out of the rest of the World Cup for Team Canada, likely to end his club season with Sassuolo as well. He hopes an MRI and further testing will only show a broken leg and no further damage, as this will already be a difficult injury to recover from, as his teammate Moise Bombito knows. This is also a major blow to Canada as they lose a starting midfielder, with Nathan Saliba now likely to take on a bigger role due to Kone's absence.

Impact The center-back was sent off in the 80th minute with a harsh foul against Johan Manzambi when the playmaker was going clean through on goal.
