Daniel Boloca - Unavailable for first official game Boloca (knee) wasn't called up for Monday's cup fixture versus Cesena and hasn't featured in any pre-season contest.
Impact Boloca underwent a relatively minor knee surgery back in February after trying a conservative therapy for a while and hasn't been seen since. He's a safe bet to open the campaign on the shelf. Vasilije Adzic, Darryl Bakola and Luca Lipani have been sharing duties in the two spots next to Nemanjia Matic throughout the summer, as the future of Kristian Thorstvedt is uncertain.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Fali Cande - Still recovering from serious injury Cande (knee) hasn't appeared during the friendlies and in Monday's Coppa Italia tilt versus Cesena.
Impact Cande tore his knee in January and needs more time to be ready to play. He is set to be unavailable in the early portion of the season. Jay Idzes, Sebastian Walukiewicz (undisclosed), Cas Odenthal and Tommaso Macchioni will hold down the fort in the middle of the defense in the meantime.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Edoardo Pieragnolo - Not yet cleared to return Pieragnolo (knee) is still in his rehab protocol after last October's ACL tear.
Impact Pieragnolo has been working on his recovery and practicing on the side during the summer, without starring in the friendlies or in the first official game in the Coppa Italia. He's considering week-to-week, and he might not stay at the club once he's healed. Josh Doig and Rafael Obrador will handle the left-back position.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Domenico Berardi - Tending to ankle injury Berardi missed Monday's Coppa Italia game and a pair of recent friendlies due to an ankle sprain, Sassuolo announced.
Impact Berardi stepped away from the pre-season retreat for what was initially labeled a minor problem, but he's not been able to play for a few weeks at this point, and his status for the opener is up in the air. Cristian Volpato will take his place on the right wing if needed.
1 DAY AGO • ROTOWIRE
Rafael Obrador - Back in Italy Obrador is headed to Sassuolo on loan with an option to buy from Benfica.
Impact Obrador is coming off six solid months at Torino, during which he quickly won the starting job and tallied three assists, 13 chances created and 59 crosses (15 accurate) in 16 showings, scoring once. He'll play in a less offensive role at Sassuolo and only has to beat out Josh Doig, who fell out of favor last year, while Ulisses Garcia wasn't retained.
4 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Benjamin Dominguez - Heads to Sassuolo Dominguez is moving to Sassuolo on loan with an option to buy from Bologna.
Impact Dominguez totaled 42 appearances (23 starts) during the past two seasons combined at Genoa, as he was rarely the top option at his position. He has put up three goals and five assists and logged 52 shots (19 on target), 20 key passes and 22 crosses (five accurate) during his time in Italy. He'll compete with Domenico Berardi, Armand Lauriente and Cristian Volpato on the wings at Sassuolo.
AUGUST 11 • ROTOWIRE
Vasilije Adzic - Loaned to Sassuolo Adzic has left Juventus to join Sassuolo for the 2026/2027 season, the two teams announced.
Impact Adzic will seek more minutes after making just 24 total appearances (two starts) in two campaigns combined in Turin, scoring once and notching 10 shots (five on target), seven chances created and 11 crosses (two on target). He'll compete in a couple of spots with Kristian Thorstvedt and Darryl Bakola.
AUGUST 3 • ROTOWIRE
Kieron Bowie - Returns to Serie A Bowie is headed to Sassuolo on loan with a conditional obligation to buy from Verona.
Impact Bowie played well for a struggling team in the second half of last season, bagging four goals and tallying 33 shots (11 on target), 13 chances created and six crosses (zero accurate) in 14 starts. He'll compete and rotate with Andrea Pinamonti at his new team and would take over the position if the teammate left.
JULY 31 • ROTOWIRE
Cristian Volpato - Active in playmaking role Volpato registered two shots (zero on goal), three crosses (two accurate) and two corners in Friday's 1-1 (5-3) penalty shootout loss to Egypt.
Impact Volpato was one of the bright spots for Australia in this loss due to his playmaking ability. The Sassuolo midfielder ends the World Cup with no goals or assists, but he had four shots, four chances created, 11 crosses and seven corners in three outings (two starts).
JULY 4 • ROTOWIRE
Tarik Muharemovic - Game-high 11 clearances in loss Muharemovic made 11 clearances, won four duels, suffered one foul, and commited one foul in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to USA.
Impact Muharemovic's most notable involvement came in the 64th minute when Folarin Balogun raked him on the ankle during a challenge. After a VAR review, the U.S. striker was shown a straight red card, giving Bosnia a numerical advantage for the remainder of the match. Muharemovic recovered and continued playing, helping Bosnia push forward in search of an equalizer. Appearing in every stage of Bosnia's historic World Cup run to the knockout rounds, Muharemovic combined physical defending with composure on the ball and demonstrated the athleticism needed to compete against top international attackers.
JULY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Recovers well from surgery Kone (leg) is recovering well after successful surgery on a tibia and fibula fracture sustained against Qatar, with the midfielder seen celebrating energetically alongside teammate...
Impact Kone remains sidelined for the rest of the tournament following surgery, with coach Jesse Marsch recognizing the magnitude of what Canada have accomplished without their most gifted midfielder. While he has been unable to contribute on the field, Kone has remained a vocal and upbeat presence around the squad, earning praise from teammates for his attitude since leaving the hospital. The fact the Sassuolo midfielder is already back on his feet is an encouraging sign that he could recover ahead of schedule and be ready to make an impact during the 2026/27 campaign.
JUNE 29 • ROTOWIRE
Kristian Thorstvedt - Takes one shot in blowout loss Thorstvedt had one shot (one on goal) in Friday's 4-1 defeat to France.
Impact Thorsvedt didn't make a big impact in the middle of the park and looked overmatched at times against the French midfield. Thorstvedt is a decent depth option, but with Sander Berge and Martin Odegaard expected back in the XI for the Ivory Coast clash on Tuesday in the Round of 32, Thorstvedt shouldn't have a lot of fantasy appeal.
JUNE 26 • ROTOWIRE
Cristian Volpato - Attacking spark in first start Volpato had one shot (one on goal), five crosses (one accurate) and three corners in Thursday's 0-0 draw against Paraguay.
Impact Volpato made his first start of the tournament and was lively during his time on the pitch before being substituted in the 58th minute. Alongside Jordan Bos on the right he formed a dangerous partnership and matched him with three chances created while also taking one shot, attempting five crosses and handling set pieces for his side. The duels were a struggle however as he won only three of 13 and completed three of seven dribbles before his night was cut short.
JUNE 26 • ROTOWIRE
Tarik Muharemovic - Suspension over Muharemovic is no longer suspended and will be available to play in the knockout stages with Bosnia.
Impact Muharemovic had been sent off in the 80th minute against Switzerland for a harsh foul on Johan Manzambi and missed the group stage finale against Qatar as a result, but his suspension has now been served. Stjepan Radeljic had stepped in alongside Nikola Katic at center-back during his absence, with Muharemovic now ready to regain his spot in the lineup.
JUNE 24 • ROTOWIRE
Samuele Mulattieri - Returns to Sassuolo Mulattieri will return to parent club Sassuolo after his conditional obligation to buy clause was not triggered during his loan spell at Deportivo La Coruna, the club announced.
Impact Mulattieri had joined on loan with the obligation set to convert automatically had he played enough minutes, but he did not meet the necessary threshold to make the move permanent. He returns to Sassuolo with his future yet to be determined ahead of the 2026/27 season.
JUNE 20 • ROTOWIRE
Cristian Volpato - Misses chance off bench Volpato generated one shot (zero on goal), three crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Friday's 2-0 loss versus USA.
Impact Volpato came off the bench in the 61st minute for his World Cup debut and was immediately involved, firing his first touch over the bar from inside the box after Nestory Irankunda's cutback found him in space during Friday's 2-0 defeat to the United States. He continued to threaten down the right after that, whipping in a dangerous cross that narrowly evaded his teammates and forcing a stoppage-time chance with another shot that flew over. Australia move to Group D's third game against Paraguay with their fate still in their own hands despite Friday's defeat.
JUNE 19 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Underwent successful surgery Kone (leg) underwent successful surgery early this morning in Vancouver, according to Jeremy Filosa.
Impact Kone suffered what appeared to be a broken leg on Thursday and has since been hospitalised awaiting surgery. The injury rules him out of the remainder of the World Cup and could potentially keep him sidelined for the entire club season as well, with his focus now shifting entirely to recovery.
JUNE 19 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Awaiting surgery Kone (leg) is at the hospital awaiting surgery, according to manager Jesse Marsch, per James Sharman of Footy Prime.
Impact Kone went down with an apparent broken leg Thursday and will now get further testing done, as the midfielder is already set for surgery. Unfortunately for the midfielder, he will not return to the World Cup due to the injury, potentially now also set to miss the entire league season. More on his status and recovery should come in the next day or two after his surgery and operation are complete.
JUNE 18 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Suffers likely broken leg Kone was taken off the field in the 56th minute of Thursday's match against Qatar due to an apparent broken leg.
Impact Kone would horrifically leave the field Thursday following a rough tackle from a Qatar defender that led to a red, as Kone appeared to have suffered a broken leg. Unfortunately for the midfielder, this will knock him out of the rest of the World Cup for Team Canada, likely to end his club season with Sassuolo as well. He hopes an MRI and further testing will only show a broken leg and no further damage, as this will already be a difficult injury to recover from, as his teammate Moise Bombito knows. This is also a major blow to Canada as they lose a starting midfielder, with Nathan Saliba now likely to take on a bigger role due to Kone's absence.
JUNE 18 • ROTOWIRE
Tarik Muharemovic - Sent off vs. Switzerland Muharemovic was sent off in Thursday's game against Switzerland.
Impact The center-back was sent off in the 80th minute with a harsh foul against Johan Manzambi when the playmaker was going clean through on goal. Muharemovic will miss the group-stage finale against Qatar on June 24, and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to play in the knockout stages. For that to happen, the absence would have to be one game, and Bosnia would have to qualify. Expect Dennis Hadzikadunic or Nihad Mujakic as his potential replacement alongside Nikola Katic at center-back.
JUNE 18 • ROTOWIRE
Sebastian Walukiewicz - Signed permanently by Sassuolo Walukiewicz has been bought out by Sassuolo from Torino following a season-long loan spell.
Impact Walukiewicz will stay at Sassuolo for the foreseeable future after a productive campaign during which he was a day-one start at right-back and totaled 50 tackles, 108 clearances and 25 interceptions in 34 appearances, contributing to six clean sheets. It remains to be seen whether he'll stay on the wing or if he'll move to the middle of the defense down the line, depending on his team's plans on the transfer market.
JUNE 18 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Quiet in draw Kone recorded one shot (zero on goal) and two crosses (zero accurate) in Friday's 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Impact Kone didn't have much to do during Friday's draw and he struggled to really get involved in the attack. His lone shot was poor and neither of his crosses proved very threatening. The midfielder is still getting back to full fitness, but even when fully healthy it's unlikely he becomes a major contributor in the attack.
JUNE 13 • ROTOWIRE
Tarik Muharemovic - Limited impact in draw Muharemovic generated one shot (zero on goal) in Friday's 1-1 draw against Canada. He also added 21 clearances and two interceptions.
Impact Muharemovic didn't do much throughout the contest, but his presence at the back was enough to limit the impact of the Canadian strikers. The 21 clearances were a game-high mark for the Sassuolo defender, who should remain as the team's defensive anchor going forward. Bosnia's next game will be against Switzerland on Thursday, June 18.
JUNE 12 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Back in training Thursday Kone (illness) has avoided a major ailment and practiced with the Canadian national team, and he should be available for Friday's clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Joseph McBride of T...
Impact Kone missed the previous training session due to a fever but made a quick comeback, suggesting he'll be ready to start in the first World Cup group stage game. The midfielder's presence in the lineup would limit Nathan Saliba and Jonathan Osorio to substitute roles in the short term. Kone recorded six goals over 35 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo in 2025/26, and he has also scored four times across 39 matches at the international level, but he's more likely to be a source of passing numbers in his central spot.
JUNE 11 • ROTOWIRE
Ismael Kone - Unclear status after early exit Kone (undisclosed) left Canada's training session before it began, raising concerns over a possible injury, OneSoccer's Kristian Jack reports.
Impact Kone had trained in full the previous day and even spoke to the press, making his early departure from the session a concerning sign of a potential injury. The midfielder had started both of Canada's last two friendlies and was expected to feature in the starting XI, with nothing yet confirmed by Canada Soccer leaving his situation unclear. Should an injury be confirmed, Nathan Saliba or Jonathan Osorio could step in to fill his place in midfield
