Rui Modesto - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates | FOX Sports

Unavailable with quad problem Modesto won't be involved in upcoming action because of a quad injury, according to the MLS.

Impact Modesto has played a minor role in recent months, making three league starts at right-back, where Edier Ocampo is the preferred choice. The 26-year-old was signed for his pace and work rate on both sides of the ball, but a quad issue slows his integration. Vancouver is also missing Sam Adekugbe (hamstring) and Belal Halbouni (knee) from their defensive depth, reducing the side's ability to rotate in the final regular-season rounds.

Impact Modesto moves to Vancouver after his time in Italy stalled, making just 25 appearances with six starts across a season and a half at Udinese before a second-half loan to Serie B side Palermo, where he started five of 10 games and produced a goal and an assist. The transfer is about getting back to regular football, and the Whitecaps get an experienced right back with 160 professional appearances in Europe, 28 goals and 32 assists.
