Returns to RSL
Rubin (not injury related) returned to Salt Lake this week and is expected to be available for selection in Saturday's clash against the Crew.
Impact
Rubin missed last weekend's loss to St. Louis while away on international duty, but he's now back with his club team and likely to slot back into the XI up front in place of Anderson Julio against Columbus.

Takes shot against Austin
Rubin took a shot and made a clearance in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Austin FC. He also won one of one tackles in the match.
Impact
Rubin had a somewhat quiet game in his return to the XI for the first time this season. He should be the first-choice striker for RSL at the moment, but he may come under pressure from winter signing Andres Gomez as the campaign continues.

Takes shot off bench
Rubin subbed into Saturday's match against the Sounders in the 60th minute, taking a shot and making an interception in the 2-0 victory.
Impact

Returning from suspension
Rubin is eligible to play against the Sounders this weekend after serving a red card suspension.
Impact
Rubin was sent off in the playoff defeat to Austin FC that ended his side's 2022 campaign, and he served a one-game suspension in last weekend's season-opening win over the Whitecaps. Anderson Julio started up front in that win with new signing Andres Gomez coming off the bench, but Rubin will be an option in the XI as well now that he's back.

Mostly bench option this season
Rubin made just 24 MLS appearances (eight starts) in 2022, scoring just one goal.
Impact
Rubin took a step backwards this season as Sergio Cordova and Jefferson Savarino mostly took over as RSL's starting forwards, despite Rubin putting up eight goals and five assists in 2021. The 26-year-old will try to win back his spot in the XI during the next campaign, but he will be suspended for the first match after receiving a red card in the Round One playoff defeat against Austin a few weeks ago.

Rubin was sent off in the 52nd minute of Sunday's playoff matchup against FC Austin after seeing yellow twice. Prior to departing, he took three shots (zero on target).

First goal of season
Rubin scored one goal to go with three shots (one on goal) and one cross (one accurate) in Sunday's 3-1 win versus Portland Timbers.
Impact
Rubin got his seventh start of the season and registered his first goal on the campaign that proved to be the game winner that will send Real Salt Lake to the playoffs. The young American was not given too much of an opportunity to play this season with just one goal with 20 shots (eight on target) and 16 clearances in 23 appearances this year.

Takes three shots in win
Rubin subbed into Saturday's match against the Earthquakes in the 19th minute, and he took three shots (two on target) in the 2-0 victory.
Impact
Rubin replaced an injured Bobby Wood (groin) on Saturday, and he could now be in for a return to the starting lineup following Wood's surgery this week that is expected to keep him out until August. Rubin tallied eight goals and five assists in 2021 but has been relegated to a backup role so far this season. Wood's injury likely changes that as Rubin will get the opportunity to prove himself again alongside Sergio Cordova up front.

Away on international duty
Rubin will miss Saturday's trip to Vancouver while away on international duty with Guatemala.

Creates chance in start
Rubin made four clearances and created a chance in Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Nashville SC. He also made a block in the match.
Impact
Rubin made his first start of the season on Sunday but he was pretty ineffective from an attacking perspective against Nashville. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him return to the bench against Austin next weekend.

On bench Saturday
Rubin (groin) is on the bench for Saturday's clash with Kansas City.
Impact
Rubin is on the bench Saturday, a surprise as he was reported to be available for the match in a large capacity earlier in the week. That said he is just recovering from a long-term injury, so it's not a surprise that he isn't rushing back to a major work load.

Quiet in playoff loss
Rubin made two clearances in last weekend's 2-0 defeat against Portland in the Western Conference Final.
Impact
Rubin didn't have the best playoffs individually, but making it to the Conference Championship with the No. 7 seed RSL is an accomplishment itself, and he tallied eight goals and five assists in 37 appearances (28 starts) overall during his first season in MLS.

Rubin shot four times off target during Saturday's 1-0 loss to Chicago.

Extends point streak in 3-1 win
Rubin scored once, took one shot (one on target) and sent one cross (none accurate) in the 3-1 win against Colorado on Saturday.
Impact
Rubin was saved by the goal in the win Saturday. The forward did not produce much of anything up until his goal. Over his point streak of two matches, he has, one goal, one assist, two shots, two created chances and one cross. His floor is very low right now and his ceiling is boom-or-bust.
