GAME LOG

Spotted in training Dias (calf) was spotted in training ahead of Sunday's trip to Liverpool.
Impact Dias is working on his return from a calf issue and could be back for Sunday's massive clash with Liverpool. If at all fit the defender would be a massive boon for City as they look to snap a six-game winless streak.

Still out Dias (undisclosed) is out for Saturday's game against Tottenham, according to manager Pep Guardiola. "Ruben is out but hopefully back soon."
Impact Dias still needs more time to recover from his undisclosed issues, as he will be sat for a fourth straight match. This continues to leave City without a regular starter, although he should be returning soon. That said, he will hope it is by next week, possibly against Feyenoord on Tuesday but more likely against Liverpool on Dec. 1.
NOVEMBER 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Misses out against Cherries Dias is set to be out for a little bit, according to manager Pep Guardiola, per Simon Bajkowski of Manchester Evening News. "[Dias] is out a little bit of a long time."
Impact Dias looks to be heading to the sidelines for at least another match after missing out against Bournemouth, with the defender having picked up an injury. This still does leave some room to assume when he will return, although he will likely be out until at least after the international break. He is a regular starter, with Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake likely to continue at center back in his absence.
NOVEMBER 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stable starting role Dias has started all but one Premier League match, as well as going the full 90 in each start.
Impact Dias started on the bench for just two of his appearances, one in the Premier League, one in the starting XI. The defender has started, and gone the full 90, in every other match. Dias remains the top choice in the starting XI and the center-piece of the defense.

Scores unfortunate own goal Dias had an own goal, two shots (zero on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-1 win over West Ham United.
Impact Dias gave West Ham their only chance of hope Saturday, as before City would go on to bag two more goals and put away the match, Dias would accidentally tie the game in the 19th minute after scoring an own goal. Outside of the own goal, he was decent in the defense, registering one interception and six clearances. He continues to be a regular starter, starting and playing the full 90 in all three contests to begin the season.

Logs three clearances versus Slovenia Dias won one of one tackle and recorded three clearances, two blocks and one interception in Monday's 3-0 win on PKs versus Slovenia.
Impact Dias was tidy in the back, and the Portuguese defense didn't face a lot of pressure throughout the game, although a pair of blunders could have been costly. He has contributed to two clean sheets in three showings, notching 10 clearances, two interceptions and three blocks.
JULY 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stout defensively once again Dias appeared in 20 games (28 starts), registering 30 interceptions, 39 tackles and 75 clearances.
Impact Dias did not take a step down from his past seasons, as he put together another high-level campaign to remain a top defender in the Premier League. Statistically, it was one of his better seasons since joining the club despite winning PL Player of the Season just a couple of years ago, possibly due to the team being a bit more leaky this campaign and the defender adding a little more presence in the attack. He will now maintain this role moving into next season, likely poised for another solid season while also hoping he can make a difference with Portugal in the Euro 2024.
MAY 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Excellent finish to season Dias won his lone tackle during Manchester City's 3-1 win Sunday against West Ham.
Impact Upon Diaz's May return, Manchester City could not afford to drop any points in order to win the 2023-24 Premier League. With his help, the team did not, conceding only one goal across his last three appearances to finish this season as champions. The 2023-24 season saw him log 75 clearances, 30 interceptions and 17 blocks, all of them Dias' best across a single year since his 2020-21 debut campaign with Manchester City.

Available for return Dias (illness) is available for Saturday's clash with Wolves, according to manager Pep Guardiola.
Impact Dias is an option for Saturday's clash with Wolves after recovering from an illness. The defender should be a full option for the starting XI, though he actually was left on the bench in two matches in row before missing out through illness.
MAY 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Out due to illness Dias is out for Sunday's game against Nottingham Forest due to illness, Michael Pavitt of The Daily Mail reports.
Impact Dias is one of two regulars missing from Sunday's pivotal match due to illness, with Phil Foden being the other. The center-back will have almost an entire week to recover in hopes of being available to face Wolverhampton on May 4. This means Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji will start at center-back against Forest.

Bags unfortunate own goal Dias registered an own goal, two tackles (two won) and one clearance in Tuesday's 3-3 draw against Real Madrid.
Impact Dias witnessed a brief period of bad luck Wednesday, as he was marked for an own goal after Eduardo Camavinga's shot hit off of the defender and redirected into the goal in the 12th minute. However, it would be harsh to call this goal Dias' fault, as it was more of a wrong play right time situation, with the defender left with little he could do once the ball was hit. At least he did recover a little bit later on in the match, with his two tackles won and a clearance in his 90 minutes of play.
APRIL 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Solid in defense Dias had five tackles (four won), one clearance and two interceptions in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
Impact Dias put in a great effort defensively Wednesday despite his team not maintaining a clean sheet, as he registered five tackles, two interceptions and a clearance in the win. His five tackles gave the defender a new match-high for the season, having one more than his previous best, with that coming back in September. He has now started in all but two of his 25 league appearances this campaign, notching 25 interceptions, 33 tackles and 69 clearances over his 2,007 minutes of play.

Maintains role as starter Dias has continued as a regular sight in the starting XI this season, getting the start in 27 of the club's 32 contests this season.
Impact Dias has not taken a step back at all from where he was last campaign, continuing as one of the best defenders in the Premier League while also being City's regular starter in the center of the defense for a fourth straight season. The defender sees a lot of involvement due to the possession style of City plays, having completed the second-most passes on the team with 1,356, but this does hinder his stats in the defense, only having 15 interceptions, 19 tackles and 49 clearances in league play this season. However, he still does lead the team in clearances, having 13 more than anyone else on the squad.

Surprise inclusion in squad Dias (illness) is in the squad to face Sheffield United on Saturday.
Impact Dias returns from an illness in time to feature in the squad, but only for a place on the bench. Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake partner in the heart of City's back four Saturday.

Impact Dias will be spending his second match in a row Saturday, having yet to recover from an illness he picked up earlier this week. The defender should return for the club's next contest against Newcastle on Jan. 13, having almost two weeks to recover due to the winter break. Expect Manuel Akanji to get the start in the center of defense against Sheffield with Dias out.
DECEMBER 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Missed Everton match due to illness Dias was not an option for Wednesday's match against Everton due to an illness and is now questionable for Saturday's match against Sheffield, according to the club.
Impact Dias will hope to shake off his recent illness by the weekend as he attempts to get back on the team sheet for Saturday's match. His current status for the contest is still up in the air, with no further updates coming since the game on Wednesday. If he does get the nod against Sheffield, expect the defender to most likely end up in the starting XI, as the defender has only missed out on the starting XI three times when healthy.

Makes one clearance in loss Dias recorded one cross (zero accurate) and one clearance in Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.
Impact Dias had a pretty quiet outing and couldn't help Manchester City avoid the road loss. The centerback registered just one clearance and one inaccurate cross. He has just two clean sheets after nine starts in the season.

Own goal leads to loss Dias recorded an own goal, three shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 loss against Wolverhampton.
Impact Dias unfortunately played a huge part in City's loss on Saturday, scoring an own goal in the 13th minute to give Wolves an early lead. He was decent in the defense despite the own goal, registering one tackle, two interceptions and three clearances in the middle of the final third. He has started every match since recovering from his concussion and is the only City defender you should expect to start in every game this campaign.

Four tackles Dias made four tackles during Saturday's 5-1 win over Fulham.
Impact Dias got the start for the third match in a row after coming back from a concussion. The defender has played the full 90 in each match since coming back and is set once more to be the backbone of the defense. While Dias might not compile incredible stats he's a very consistent option with major clean sheet upside.

Starting against Newcastle Dias is fit and in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Newcastle.
Impact Dias returns from a concussion which kept him out of last Friday's season opener against Burnley. Dias' return pushes Josko Gvardiol to left back with Nathan Ake taking a seat on the bench.
