Couple weeks from return Pope (shoulder) has started his rehabilitation process but is still a decent ways from a return, as manager Eddie Howe told reporters, "There's no immediate update but he's not on...
Impact Pope has now been away from the team for around three months due to the shoulder issue he picked up against Manchester United on Dec. 2. However, the keeper seems to be nearing a return after getting back to working in the gym and trying a few training sessions, but will still most likely need a couple more weeks to recover until ready for a return. It will hopefully come sometime in March, but it could take a little longer, with the club probably not wanting to rush him back into play, as he could easily aggravate the injury again if not fully healed before taking the field.

Injured Newcastle goalkeeper Pope set to miss around 4 months. Howe plays down De Gea links

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe says goalkeeper Nick Pope will be out for “around four months” after dislocating his left shoulder in the latest injury to hit the Premier League team

Headed for surgery Pope (shoulder) will require surgery and is expected to be sidelined for four months. Manager Eddie Howe told reporters Wednesday, "We anticipate he'll be operated on and there's n...
Impact Pope was already expected to be out long term but this latest update confirms that the keeper will need shoulder surgery. Based on his recovery timeline, Pope could still return before the close of the 2023-24 campaign, though he'll need to be close to that four-month period. In the meantime, Martin Dubravka figures to take over as the first-choice keeper with Loris Karius also available.
DECEMBER 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Set for long-term absence Pope will be out of action for 4-5 months due to his shoulder injury, Mike McGrath of The Daily Telegraph reports Monday.
Impact Pope's long-term absence will open the door for Martin Dubravka to make his first Premier League start of the season, having featured just once for the club against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Nov. 1. Fortunately for Newcastle, the club also has veteran Loris Karius under contract, so they shouldn't need to pursue another keeper during the upcoming transfer window. For his part, Pope has earned six clean sheets in 19 PL and UCL outings this season while conceding just 19 goals.

Suffered suspected dislocated shoulder Pope has likely dislocated his shoulder during Saturday's win over Manchester United and could be set for some time on the sidelines, said manager Eddie Howe per BBC. "I don't know...
Impact This is tough news for Pope, who could be out for sometime following a dislocated shoulder. He had been on great form this, starting all 14 matches in the Premier League while allowing 14 goals in that span and holding onto five clean sheets. In his absence, Martin Dubravka will take over the goalkeeping duties for Newcastle. He had only started just one league match during the 2022/23 season.

Leaves field holding shoulder Pope exited Saturday's match against Manchester United in the 86th minute due to an injury, holding his shoulder as he walked off the pitch.
Impact Pope looked to be in a lot of pain as he walked off the pitch Saturday, holding his shoulder and grimacing after taking a tough fall after saving a shot. This is a huge blow for Newcastle, as their goalie department was the only portion of the team unscathed by injuries until now. There is still no further information on the injury, as that should be taken care of in the press conference after the match. He was replaced by Martin Dubravka, who should stay as the starting keeper if Pope misses time with the knock.

Six saves, one goal allowed Pope had six saves and allowed one goal in Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 92nd minute.
Impact Pope had an immaculate first 95 minutes, saving all six shots PSG had on goal. But during the 96th minute, a Valentino Livramento handball rewarded Paris Saint-Germain a penalty kick, which Kylian Mbappe converted for the team's game-tying goal. The draw proved costly for Newcastle United, who must defeat AC Milan on Dec. 13 to advance into the Champions League knockout stage. Until then, Newcastle United will have to go through a tough series of Premier League games, beginning with one Saturday against Manchester United.

Makes one save in win Pope made three saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 4-1 victory versus Chelsea.
Impact Pope has now allowed a total of eight goals in the last six matches, making 26 saves with just one clean sheet in that span. This puts him at an average of 3.9 saves per game. The keeper will travel to PSG for an UCL clash on Tuesday, who have scored 15 goals in the last five contests.

Outstanding performance despite loss Pope pulled off eight saves and conceded two goals in Saturday's 2-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth.
Impact Pope made a series of world-class saves that salvaged what could have been a large, humiliating defeat on Saturday. He faced a sharp and aggressive Bournemouth team that demanded he be on his toes when called into action. He was let down by a tired looking Magpies team in front of him. The regular starter has completed 36 saves (3.0 per game, 73 percent), conceded 13 (1.1 per game) and delivered five clean sheets (currently best in EPL).

Struggles in defeat Pope recorded six saves and allowed two goals in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Impact Pope faced eight shots and stopped six of them during Tuesday's loss. It wasn't a bad performance but he just couldn't keep up with the variety of Dortmund's attacking chances. The other concern was Pope's ankle which seemed to be bothering him in the second half. He was able to play through it, but it could be something to monitor before a Saturday trip to Bournemouth.

Keeps clean sheet in win Pope registered one save and allowed zero goals in Saturday's 1-0 victory versus Arsenal.
Impact Pope recorded his fifth clean sheet in 11 Premier League matches Saturday as he saved Arsenal's lone shot on target. His defense played quite well to hold the Gunners to just one shot on target. Next up for Pope is a Champions League match at Borussia Dortmund Tuesday.
NOVEMBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Gets beaten twice versus Wolves Pope made four saves and conceded two goals during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton.
Impact Pope saw the opposition scoring once each half but both goals came off strikes from very close range so there's not any reason for blaming him. Also, the goalkeeper was key for his side to escape with at least one point, making some nice interventions along the way. With back-to-back games of four saves made, the goalkeeper will have a very challenging mission next Saturday as his side hosts Arsenal.
OCTOBER 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Four saves for loss Pope recorded four saves and allowed one goal in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat versus Borussia Dortmund.
Impact Pope faced five shots and stopped four of them, including a brilliant double save in the opening minutes. Unfortunately a halftime strike from Felix Nmecha proved to be enough to beat Pope and leave him with the loss. Pope has been excellent in 2023/24, with five clean sheets in all competitions and 36 saves across the Premier League and Champions League.
OCTOBER 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Easy clean sheet Pope made three saves on his way to a clean sheet in Saturday's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Impact Pope did not have to work too hard to pick up his fifth clean sheet of the season as the opposition never truly tested him. The keeper has only conceded three goals in his last seven in all competitions, although they face tougher tests in the weeks to come with fixtures against Dortmund, Wolves and Arsenal.
OCTOBER 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Gets beaten twice versus West Ham Pope made one save and conceded two goals during Sunday's 2-2 draw against West Ham.
Impact Pope wasn't at fault for either goal allowed but the fact that he could only make one save and couldn't salvage any fantasy value here is that left those who picked him for fantasy teams disappointed. However, the goalkeeper was coming off three straight EPL clean sheets so most will probably trust he'll get back to his shot-stopping ways after the international break.
OCTOBER 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Concedes to PSG Pope registered one save and allowed one goal in Wednesday's 4-1 victory versus Paris Saint-Germain. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 87th minute.
Impact Pope made a save and a clearance and was not threatened much by PSG. He was given a yellow card for time wasting in the 87th minute. He had a fabulous performance against Milan in the previous Champions league gameweek.
OCTOBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Another clean sheet Pope made two saves and kept a clean sheet in Saturday's 2-0 win against Burnley.
Impact Pope only had to make two saves to keep his fourth consecutive clean sheet (in all competitions). He did well to tip over a late header to preserve Newcastle's two goal cushion, but had an otherwise quiet afternoon as his side coasted to a third consecutive victory. The keeper next faces PSG in the Champion's League before Sunday's trip to West Ham.
OCTOBER 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Keeps clean sheet in rout Pope registered one save and allowed zero goals in Sunday's 8-0 win versus Sheffield United.
Impact Pope had a pretty quiet outing and wasn't tested at all during Newcastle's impressive win on the road. The goalkeeper logged his third straight clean sheet. He will look to keep the momentum against Burnley on Saturday.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Keeps clean sheet against Milan Pope made eight saves, three clearances, and two punches and secured a clean sheet in Tuesday's 0-0 draw against AC Milan.
Impact Pope was highly instrumental in the result as he batted away several dangerous attempts on goal, keeping his second consecutive clean sheet of the season and posting a new season high in saves. He has given up seven goals and made 24 saves so far. Newcastle will visit Sheffield United Sunday.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
First clean sheet Pope made two saves and secured a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 win versus Brentford.
Impact Pope held down the fort and locked in his first clean sheet of the season. He is now up to a total of 16 saves, compared to seven goals conceded through five games this year.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Concedes three goals Pope conceded three goals and made four saves in Saturday's 3-1 loss at Brighton.
Impact Pope will have been disappointed that he could only parry Billy Gilmour's shot into the path of Evan Ferguson for the opener, though there was nothing the keeper could do about the second and third goals. He has conceded seven in four games so far and will aim for his first clean sheet of the season in the next game against Brentford.
