Plays 45 minutes in reserve Kaba played 45 minutes in a 3-2 win over SV Rodinghausen in Regionalliga West, confirming he is back fit moving forward.

Impact Kaba had previously been dealing with load related setbacks that limited him to just eight appearances across all competitions last season, with Dortmund taking a deliberately cautious approach to reintegrating the 17 year old. This appearance now marks a meaningful step in his return, and his continued progress will be tracked as he works toward eventually rejoining the first team.

Full return targeted for fall Kaba (undisclosed) is not expected to fully rejoin Dortmund's first team until around October, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Impact Kaba will first be partially integrated into U23 training in the coming weeks before eventually working back with the first team, though the club is taking a deliberately slow approach with the 17-year-old. He's currently working individually following performance testing, and Dortmund is prioritizing long term physical stability after he struggled with load related setbacks last season, some tied to growth spurts, limiting him to just eight appearances across all competitions. Kaba is expected to continue his gradual reintegration as the club manages his return with caution.

Still in recovery process Kaba is not yet ready to join the team in preseason while he recovers from an injury, the club announced Saturday.

Impact Kaba is a youth option projected to see little participation in future competitions, so this issue mostly impacts the team's midfield depth behind Felix Nmecha, Jobe Bellingham and Marcel Sabitzer. While he's expected to return at some point of the season, Kaba should be expected to feature as a substitute as soon as he's completely fit.

Following individual program Kaba is preparing his return outside the group and following an individual rehabilitation program, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

Impact Kaba will be reintegrated into the professional squad gradually after dealing with multiple setbacks last season, and did not take part in team training at the start of preseason as a result. Dortmund are taking a cautious approach to increasing his workload, giving the 17 year old the time needed for a full return to fitness following an injury disrupted campaign. No timeline has been set for when he will rejoin full team training. Kaba is expected to continue his individual program as the club monitors his progress.
