Lewis Cook - Soccer News, Rumors, & Updates

Losing starting role Cook has played off the bench in Bournemouth's last three league matches and hasn't started an EPL game since Aug. 29.

Impact Cook started in central midfield in the Cherries' first two games of the 2026/27 season, but he's lost his place now that Tyler Adams is back in the squad and healthy to play regularly. Cook wasn't much of a fantasy asset due to his defensive-minded role in midfield when he was playing regularly, but this move to the bench should limit his fantasy appeal even more.

One chance created in draw Cook recorded no stats in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Everton.

Impact Cook logged 69 minutes in Bournemouth's double pivot before making way for Tyler Adams, finishing with zero tackles won, clearances or interceptions in a match where his limited defensive involvement stood in stark contrast to the more combative midfield work of Everton's Harrison Armstrong and James Garner. Manager Marco Rose turned to Adams with the lead still intact as he looked to tighten up Bournemouth's midfield structure and see out the result.

Impact Cook tweaked his hamstring in the final training session ahead of Saturday's clash against West Ham United and will undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the damage. It's a tough break for the Cherries, as he's been a steady, locked-in presence in the middle of the park, and his absence now forces a reshuffle in the starting XI. With Cook sidelined, Tyler Adams is in line to step into a bigger role once again now that he's back to full fitness.

Impact Cook will hit the sidelines heading into the club's next match after a red card was shown to the midfielder Saturday, being sent off for elbowing someone in the head. This will likely result in a multi-game suspension, missing out against Everton on Dec. 2 and Chelsea on Dec. 6. That said, a return would likely come when facing Manchester United on Dec. 15. He did start in this match, with Alex Jimenez or Adam Smith as possible replacements at right-back.

Impact Cook made his season debut on Sep. 13 but only featured in one of the Cherries' first seven matches of the season, and didn't play over 25 minutes until Nov. 2. It's clear he's ready to log a significant workload now that he's fully healthy. He's expected to see regular playing time in the defensive line. That said, his fantasy upside shouldn't be very high, with his upside being mostly limited to defensive contributions only.

Impact Cook is on the bench for Friday's clash after missing two matches with a shoulder injury.
