Feeling better heading into weekend Laporte (illness) feels better, according to Man City manager Pep Guardiola on Friday. He's in contention to return to the squad for Saturday's clash against Newcastle United.

Impact Laporte has missed City's last two games against Bournemouth and RB Leipzig in the Premier League and UCL, respectively, due to an illness, but he has recovered and should be available against Newcastle this weekend. But Guardiola has a regular center-back rotation with Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, Kyle Walker and John Stones (hamstring) all options as well, so even if Laporte is fit it is hard to predict whether he will make the XI or not.

Impact Laporte has started three of the club's last five contests, in part due to the injury to John Stones (hamstring). With Stone also unavailable versus Leipzig, the backline for City could include a trio of Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji. Already a fringe starter, Laporte could struggle even more to play regular minutes once Stones is cleared to return.
