GAME LOG

Active in Cup match Firpo played 90 minutes during Wednesday's 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Wolves.
Impact Firpo hasn't bene overly involved in the first team since a knee injury knocked him out of pre-season. The left-back did go a full 90 in the cup as he continues his role as a largely rotational option. Firpo has made just two appearances (one start) in the Premier League.
NOVEMBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Playing with U21s Firpo was in the starting XI for Tuesday's U21's clash against Crewe.
Impact Firpo has made one start and two total appearances and went as an unused substitute in each of the last two matches. The defender is still working on his fitness after a knee injury cost him the pre-season. Firpo could see more playing time with the U21s while he recovers his fitness and looks to earn a spot back in the first team.

Lining up to start Firpo has been named as an expected starter for Thursday's trip to Leicester City due to Pascal Struijk's injury, according to manager Jesse Marsch. "Junior (Firpo) will start, he'...
Impact Firpo has made just one appearance off the bench after a knee injury hampered his fitness to start the season. With a fresh chance to contribute from kickoff, it will be interesting to see what Firpo can do after his defensive skills were put into question following past performances.
OCTOBER 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Should be option Sunday Firpo (undisclosed) should be available Sunday against Arsenal after manager Jesse Marsch didn't disclose his status in Friday's press conference. "Everyone else is fit and healthy...
Impact Firpo should be back on the bench Sunday unless Marsch forgot to mention him. He's still not completely fit following his knee injury and has just 32 minutes on his legs since returning after the international break. Soon enough, he should be back in the starting XI for Pascal Struijk.
OCTOBER 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Misses Palace trip Firpo wasn't in the squad for Sunday's match against Crystal Palace because of a minor issue, according to manager Jesse Marsch. "He just picked up a little something after the las...
Impact It's rarely a good thing when a player picks up a new issue shortly after returning from a lengthy layoff. He played 32 minutes in the Oct. 2 contest and figures to be an option off the bench for the next match given this new injury. Once fit and with the injuries behind him, he should take the spot of Pascal Struijk in the starting XI at left-back.
OCTOBER 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Available against Villa Firpo (knee) is fit and ready for Sunday's match against Aston Villa, according to manager Jesse Marsch. "Junior has got more and more fit and healthy and ready to contribute."
Impact Firpo has yet to feature with the senior squad this season but has seen minutes with the youth setup as he recovers from his knee issue. Given the international break, there's a chance Firpo makes an immediate return to the starting XI Sunday, taking the spot of Pascal Struijk at left-back. Even if that doesn't happen right away, Firpo figures to hold down that spot once ready.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Plays with U21s Firpo (knee) started and went 76 minutes in Friday's match with the U21s.
Impact Firpo has been edging closer to fitness and it appears like he'll be ready to play with the senior team after the international break. While Pascal Struijk has played well there this season, Firpo is a more natural fit and likely to take up that role once ready to go.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Getting closer to return Firpo (knee) is "maybe a week or two away," according to manager Jesse Marsch.
Impact This is the expected timeline for Firpo, who suffered an MCL injury more than a month ago. He'll need at least a week of full training before he's considered for the squad and then he'll probably get minutes off the bench before being given a start. Pascal Struijk has played well at left-back to open the campaign, but Firpo figures to steal that role.
AUGUST 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Remains couple weeks away Firpo had a recent scan on his knee and is two or three weeks away from the pitch, according to manager Jesse Marsch.
Impact Firpo suffered an MCL injury a few weeks ago and fortunately it looks like he's ahead of schedule. That still means Leeds will be without a true left-back to open the campaign, as early signs point to Pascal Struijk starting in that position against Wolves and Southampton, at a minimum.

Suffers MCL injury Firpo will miss the next eight weeks after suffering an MCL injury in last week's friendly, manager Jesse Marsch revealed to reporters. "We're hopeful that it's a little bit faster...
Impact Firpo missed multiple sets of matches last season because of injury and it's another one that'll keep him out at least the first month of the season. It's a tough way to start the season for a team that dealt with numerous issues last season and now Marsch will have to decide on his left-back with Leif Davis, Jack Harrison and Pascal Struijk being options at the moment.
JULY 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Ends season healthy Firpo started four of the final five matches of the season at left-back and finished with two assists from 24 league appearances (19 starts).
Impact Firpo was usually in the starting XI when healthy, but numerous injuries derailed his numbers from looking better. When he was available, Stuart Dallas moved up in the formation and when he was out, Dallas started at left-back. That being the case, Firpo isn't guaranteed to be a regular going forward given some of his defensive missteps.

Second assist of season Firpo had an assist while crossing twice inaccurately, creating two chances, making an interception, five tackles (winning four) and two clearances during Sunday's 2-1 loss to Arse...
Impact Firpo set up Diego Llorente in the 66th minute assisting Leeds' lone goal. The assist was the second of the season for the fullback as he finished with team-high totals in chances created, interceptions and tackles in the loss.
MAY 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Still working on fitness Firpo (knee) continues to work on his fitness, according to manager Jesse Marsch. "We've worked with Junior Firpo a lot in the last few days and we're hopeful of getting him fitter...
Impact Firpo was on the bench last week but didn't play, so the team is taking a slow approach with his return. Before being given a start, he'll likely come off the bench in an upcoming match and even then, there's no guarantee Marsch will want him in the starting XI over the final stretch given the team's play of late.
APRIL 28, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
On bench against Crystal Palace Firpo (knee) will be available as a substitute versus Crystal Palace on Monday.
Impact Firpo is back in the squad for the first time since March 10 against Aston Villa, a stretch of four matches on the sidelines. If the defender comes through Monday's matchup without suffering any setbacks, he could be in the mix to reclaim his place in the starting XI against Manchester City on Saturday.
APRIL 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Given 3-5 week timeline Firpo will miss three-to-five weeks from the time of his knee injury, according to manager Jesse Marsch.
Impact Firpo suffered the injury March 10, so there's a chance he's back over the international break or a couple weeks later. He'd started four-straight matches prior to injury and his absence meant that Stuart Dallas had to return to left-back in the most recent contest.

Injured against Villa Firpo picked up a knee injury in Thursday's loss against Aston Villa, according to manager Jesse Marsch. "We don't yet but it's probably something on the inside of his knee like an...
Impact Leeds made three early substitutions, so Firpo couldn't be subbed off Thursday, as he was given a full 90 in the match sheet despite being taken off on a stretcher with about 15 minutes to go. It's another injury for Leeds and one that will again force them to reassess the back line, possibly moving Stuart Dallas to that left-back role again.

Impact Firpo was terrific off the bench in the drubbing by the Red Devils on Sunday. The wingback has not shown much of his potential since his move from Barcelona, but he truly shined here. Not only did he offer offensive support, but he also stood strong against United's speedsters on the wing. If he can continue playing like this, he may begin to see more starting time.

Makes match day squad Firpo is fit and in the match day squad to face Manchester United on Sunday.
Impact Firpo returns after dealing with a hamstring issue in the buildup to the match. The wide man starts from the bench but is available if called upon Sunday.

Pictured in training Firpo (hamstring) was pictured in training Wednesday ahead of Sunday's match against Manchester United.
Impact Firpo is in a race to reach fitness ahead of Sunday's match after missing the last month with a hamstring injury. Marcelo Bielsa usually doesn't force players back too soon from injury, but with Leo Hjelde maybe the only other option at left-back, Firpo could get the start Sunday.
FEBRUARY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Won't play Saturday Firpo (hamstring) will be held out against Everton on Saturday. Manager Marcelo Bielsa told reporters, "Firpo is healthy but we are not going to anticipate his return [this weekend...
Impact It sounds like if the club were in a pinch, Firpo could be in the squad Saturday but Leeds will take a conservative approach to reinserting him back into the squad. Prior to his absence, the left-back had started each of his previous five outings in which he generated 12 tackles (eight won), 11 clearances and three shots (one on target). Once cleared to play, Firpo should push to take back his spot on the pitch.
FEBRUARY 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
In final stages of recovery Firpo (hamstring) is in the final stages of recovery and could be available this weekend or the next, according to manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Impact It looks like a regular hamstring injury for Firpo, which is usually around a timeline of a month. While he's yet another absence to the side, Leeds now have the bodies to put together a complete back line, as Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are expected to continue at full-back until Firpo is ready to return.
FEBRUARY 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Doubt to face Newcastle Firpo (hamstring) is unlikely to be an option Saturday against Newcastle, according to manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Impact Bielsa didn't say Firpo was out, but he did say the defender had a "muscular injury." It's assumed he'll be out Saturday, which is less than a week after suffering the injury. Fortunately for Leeds, Diego Llorente is back from suspension and will likely be in the XI in place of Firpo.
JANUARY 20, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Leaves with hamstring issue Firpo was forced off in the first half of Sunday's match with West Ham due to a hamstring injury.
Impact Firpo lasted just 23 minutes, one of two leads players succumbing to hamstring injuries in the first half. The severity of the fullback's injury should be determined ahead of Leeds' match with Newcastle next week.
