Returning to Mexico from loan The Timbers did not exercise Van Rankin's purchase option in his loan contract and he will return to Chivas Guadalajara at the turn of the calendar year.

Impact Van Rankin made 61 MLS appearances (54 starts) at right-back during his two seasons with Portland, and he scored a goal against Toronto in August to go along with his three assists from 2021. But the 29-year-old only made one appearance since the start of September and he will be returning to Liga MX with Guadalajara once his loan deal expires in January.
