Makes eight clearances in loss
Cuenca registered two off-target shots, one inaccurate cross, three tackles (two won), one interception, eight clearances, four blocks and a yellow card in Saturday's 3-1 loss at E...
Impact
Cuenca had a good defensive outing, but it wasn't enough to avoid the loss on the road. The centerback led his side in clearances and blocks. That was his fourth start in the season in six overall appearances.

Named to starting XI
Cuenca (nose) will feature in the starting XI against Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
Impact
Cuenca will be making just his sixth appearance for the club this season, having been a healthy scratch in 14 of the team's 18 matches. While Cuence will be making consecutive starts for the first time this season, his spot in the starting XI should probably be considered tenuous at best moving forward.

Returns to training
Cuenca returned to training Thursday, Villarreal announced.
Impact
Cuenca was training in a protective mask after suffering a nasal fracture, but he was able to train. The defender could play with the mask on, and could return as soon as a Monday clash with Rayo.

Suffers nasal fracture
Cuenca had to get surgery after suffering a nasal fracture in Sunday's win against Girona, his second start of the season.
Impact
Cuenca was getting his second start of the season Sunday due to other injuries in the side and now he could miss a match or two. He'll have to play with a mask upon return and while there's a slight chance he could return for the next league match Jan. 30, that seems like a stretch, as it'll be hard to avoid his face getting touched as a defender.

ROTOWIRE
Eight clearances against Espanyol
Jorge Cuenca recorded eight clearances in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Espanyol.
Impact
In only his second appearance this season, Cuenca was impressive with a total of eight clearances on Wednesday. This may open doors to more opportunities to play after the winter break. The Spaniard has been an unused substitute for a majority of the season and has managed to get a clean sheet in two games thus far.

Makes six clearances in loss
Cuenca made three blocks, six clearances and an interception in last weekend's 3-1 defeat against Elche.
Impact
Cuenca kept 11 clean sheets in 32 appearances (31 starts) in his debut La Liga campaign, and he scored a goal against Cadiz in November. The 22-year-old struck up a solid back-three with Djene Dakonam and Stefan Mitrovic during this loan season, but he's scheduled to return to Villarreal in the summer, where he could replace Pau Torres in the lineup if he does indeed move on to a bigger club.

Suspended against Betis
Cuenca will miss Monday's clash against Real Betis with a suspension for yellow card accumulation.
Impact
Cuenca picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in last week's victory over Celta, meaning he will be suspended for Monday's game. Erick Cabaco or Okay would be the choices to replace him in the back-three for the match.

Gets sent off in draw
Cuenca was shown a straight red card during Saturday's 2-2 draw against Alaves.
Impact
Cuenca was having a nice performance until the 32nd minute, when he was sent off due to a reckless challenge. This was the first career La Liga red card for the centre back and he'll be suspended for next Saturday's visit to Espanyol. Newcomer Gaston Alvarez could be in line to make his La Liga debut filling in for Cuenca.

ROTOWIRE
Makes four clearances in draw
Cuenca made one tackle (won), four clearances and two interceptions while helping his side to keep a clean sheet during Sunday's scoreless draw against Real Sociedad.
Impact
Cuenca was rock-solid at the heart of the defense for Getafe, keeping opposing forwards at bay during most of the match and being key for his side to shut the opposition down for the sixth time over the last nine matches. The centre back will try to remain productive during Feb. 4 home clash against Levante.

ROTOWIRE
Makes five clearances in win
Cuenca made five clearances and two interceptions during Sunday's 1-0 win over Osasuna.
Impact
Cuenca was rock-solid at the heart of the defense, keeping opposing forwards at bay and pacing his side in clearances. The centre back wasn't credited with the clean sheet though, as he was subbed off in the 73rd minute for tactical purposes. With 19 clearances over his last three starts, Cuenca will probably have a lot of work coming his way during Jan. 2 home match against league leaders Real Madrid.

Makes seven clearances in win
Cuenca made three tackles (two won), seven clearances and three interceptions during Sunday's 1-0 loss against Villarreal.
Impact
Cuenca had another impressive display at the heart of the defense, leading all players in clearances and keep opposing forwards at bay during most of the time. Over the last five matches he started, the centre back racked up 12 tackles, 28 clearances and nine interceptions. Cuenca will try to remain productive during Nov. 21 home clash against Cadiz.

ROTOWIRE
Logs two tackles in draw
Cuenca put one shot on target and made two tackles (one won) during Thursday's 1-1 draw with Granada.
Impact
Cuenca has played the rare part of a Getafe defender who only has one yellow card over his eight appearances this season, and he's even done a fair bit of defensive work with 17 tackles and 39 clearances made. Should his club ever start winning games, Cuenca may be a valuable part of that outcome. For now, he'll focus on Sunday's visit from Espanyol, which have scored 11 goals in 11 games this season.

Makes seven clearances in loss
Cuenca had two shots on goal and made two tackles (one won), seven clearances, one interception and one block during Saturday's 3-0 loss against Rayo Vallecano.
Impact
Cuenca was Getafe's lone bright spot on the defensive line, racking up some nice numbers, but couldn't prevent his side from conceding three goals and suffering another loss. The centre back will probably have his hands full one more time during Tuesday's home match against Atletico Madrid and the duo Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.
