Liverpool player ratings vs Fulham: From delight to despair! Cody Gakpo's late show not enough as Harrison Reed's stoppage-time rocket stuns Reds in dramatic draw
Clean sheet in rare start Cuenca recorded six clearances and one interception in Monday's 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 82nd minute.
Impact Cuenca made just his third start of the season Monday with Calvin Bassey missing his first match due to his participation in AFCON for Nigeria. Cuenca slotted right in and he and the Fulham defense only allowed two shots on target in the clean sheet. He contributed six clearances, two blocked shots and one interception in the full 90 minutes. After this impressive performance, it seems likely that he will maintain his spot in the starting XI until Bassey returns from international duty.

Starts in Carabao Cup Cuenca got the start during Wednesday's Carabao Cup win over Bristol City.
Impact Cuenca got the start during the Premier League opener, but returned to the bench once other options were available. He's a depth option behind one of the more imposing center-back duos in the Premier League. That will limit his playing time largely to cup competitions, but if Calvin Bassey is forced to full-back or injured, Cuenca would be the first player to step into the starting XI.
AUGUST 27, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Bench option for most of season Cuenca finished the 2024/25 season with six shots (zero on target), 32 clearances, seven tackles and two interceptions in 530 minutes across 10 appearances.
Impact Cuenca failed to establish himself as a starter despite overcoming a pair of injuries in the first half of the campaign. In the few opportunities he had, he operated as a left-sided center-back and took part in defensive and passing duties for a squad that enjoyed decent ball possession. Aside from one period at Getafe and another one with Villarreal in his home country in 2021 and 2023, respectively, Cuenca has yet to play more than 10 first-division league games in a single season.

Returning Thursday Cuenca (undisclosed) is on the bench for Thursday's game against Brighton.
Impact Cuenca is set to return following a four-game absence and will add some much-needed depth on the bench. That said, his fantasy upside isn't very high, as he's been limited to just one league appearance in 2024/25.

Possibility for Thursday Cuenca (undisclosed) is questionable for Thursday's match against Tottenham, according to manager Marco Silva. "We still have Anderson out, plus Reed all the other players are goin...
Impact Cuenca could be making his return to the team sheet Thursday, although that still isn't confirmed, as he wasn't mentioned in the pre-match press conference. This would be solid news, with the defender missing their past four games. Even if he is fit, he will probably only see a bench spot, as he has only appeared for one minute as a substitute in four appearances on the team sheet this campaign.
DECEMBER 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Out again Cuenca is out for Sunday's match against Tottenham due to injury, according to manager Marco Silva. "Jorge is out. Joachim will be out for some games, Jorge sis be back sooner."
Impact Cuenca is still missing from the team sheet, as he will now miss the club's past four games and continue a terrible streak of injuries, only having appeared once all season while missing nine games due to his issues. Luckily for the club, he is a backup option and isn't expected to play a large role at the club this campaign. He will look to return in a week or two, although he is likely to continue in a bench role.

Set to join Fulham Cuenca has completed a transfer to Fulham from Villarreal, according to his former club.
Impact Cuenca's time in Spain has come to an end for the time being, with the defender now set to head to England to join Premier League side Fulham. He started in 21 of his 29 appearances last campaign, notching four goal contributions to go along with 21 interceptions, 42 tackles and 108 clearances. He is a versatile defender who can play on the inside or outside, likely leaving him to receive solid time in the new campaign, anywhere from rotational to starting time in the 2024/25 season.

Will return to face Betis Cuenca completed his one-game suspension due to yellow-card accumulation and will be available to face Real Betis on Sunday.
Impact Cuenca is back after a one-game suspension. While his presence will add another option for Villarreal's backline, he's not expected to make a massive impact from a fantasy perspective, as he's made just 15 starts and 20 appearances.
MARCH 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable versus Granada Cuenca will miss Sunday's matchup versus Granada while serving a one-match suspension
Impact Cuenca was handed his fifth yellow card of the season versus Real Sociedad on Friday despite logging just 20 minutes off the bench. The defender has been held in a reserve role for the last two matches, so his absence may not significantly impact the starting XI. Still, Cuenca did feature in 12 of his last 17 outings across European and La Liga competition.

Active display in return Cuenca had two shots (one on target), made two tackles (both won), four clearances and three interceptions and suffered two fouls during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Alaves.
Impact Cuenca made his return to the starting XI after missing two league matches and being benched on the following two due to an injury and had a very productive performance not only with defensive numbers but also being an aerial threat on the attacking end. The center-back, who had a very strong start of campaign, will hope this performance helps him to remain in the lineup for the upcoming games and recover his pre-injury form.
OCTOBER 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Bench option versus Getafe Cuenca (ankle) is available for Saturday's match against Getafe.
Impact Cuenca is back on the squad after missing the last three games due to an ankle injury but will be eased into action. He started four times before getting hurt, tallying one goal, four shots (one on target), four tackles, and three interceptions.

Impact Cuenca will be sidelined for his third consecutive contest due to his ankle problem but at least has a clearer timeline to return to the squad versus Getafe on Saturday. Prior to his absence, the central defender started four of his five appearances for the club and should be in contention to reclaim his spot in the starting XI once given the all-clear.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Left out of squad Cuenca was not named to the squad to face Panathinaikos on Thursday due to an undisclosed injury.
Impact Cuenca had started four straight matches before being held in reserve against Almeria on Sunday, logging just six minutes off the bench. The central defender now finds himself dropped completely from the squad with little detail on the nature of his absence. For now, Raul Albiol and Matteo Gabbia figure to make out the central defensive pair most game weeks.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
10 clearances in loss Jorge Cuenca registered two tackles (two won) and 10 clearances in Friday's 3-1 defeat versus Cadiz. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 53rd minute.
Impact Jorge Cuenca had a decent performance on Friday despite the defense looking terrible, accumulating two tackles (two won), ten clearances and a couple of blocks. The 23-year-old looks to have secured a starting spot in the squad this season after barely seeing the field last year, notching a start in all four of Villarreal's matches this season.
