Should be option Thursday Willock (illness) "should be okay" for Thursday's trip to Everton, according to manager Eddie Howe.
Impact It's expected Willock will be back in the starting XI Thursday after missing the loss at Chelsea with an illness. Newcastle still have some issues they're dealing with, but Willock should be one of the regulars who returns to the XI, possibly replacing Sean Longstaff, who went 90 against Chelsea.

Out with illness Willock is not in the squad for Sunday's match against Chelsea because of illness.
Impact Willock fails to make the squad Sunday for the first time in eight matches. Newcastle are using a bit of a different squad against Chelsea with Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron being forced into the midfield in a huge spot.

Scores in road win Willock scored one goal from three shots, created one chance, sent in three crosses (one accurate) and made three tackles (two won) in Saturday's 2-0 win at Brentford.
Impact Willock scored in the 44th minute to give them the 2-0 lead and seal the road win. That was his second goal in the season, both in the last two starts. The midfielder will now look to find the back of the net again when they host Brighton on Saturday.

Breaks barrier with goal in draw Willock scored once, took five shots (one on target), made two tackles (one won) and intercepted once in the 1-1 draw against West Ham on Saturday.
Impact Willock finally scored his first goal of the season in the tight draw Saturday. The midfielder has not been shy shooting the ball as of late with 12.0 shots over his last five matches, however, he has not managed to convert any into goals until now. Willock is also providing a solid effort on the defensive side of the ball. If he can continue to produce a two-way effort, he will surely be worth considering when he is in the starting XI.

Back in squad Willock (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Watford.
Impact Willock is available again after missing the last set of matches likely with COVID-19. Prior to Saturday, he'd started six of the last seven league matches, but following some new signings, his role in the team may be no longer, especially given his production this season.
JANUARY 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Misses Man United draw Willock wasn't in the squad for Monday's draw against Manchester United because of an undisclosed reason.
Impact Willock was likely out with COVID-19 as Newcastle's clash against Everton on Thursday has now been postponed. This hasn't been confirmed by the club, but he should be considered a doubt for Sunday's game against Southampton if he indeed has contracted the virus. Sean Longstaff could continue in midfield in his absence if necessary.

Searching for minutes under new manager Willock has played just 48 minutes over the team's last three matches, something he'll hope to change under Eddie Howe.
Impact Willock was on a run of seven-straight starts until Steve Bruce was sacked, so it clearly was a managerial change that led to less playing time. He's had a couple weeks to gain the favor of Eddie Howe, so his playing time should be monitored in the coming weeks despite recent results.

Injured against Wolves Willock was forced off in the 35th minute of Saturday's match against Wolves with an undisclosed injury.
Impact Willock had a knock a couple weeks ago and now he's forced off with an injury Saturday. Fortunately for Newcastle, Jeff Hendrick came on and scored against Wolves. Willock has no goals or assists in his six starts this season.
OCTOBER 2, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Takes four shots in draw Willock had four shots (one on target) and one chance created in Saturday's draw against Watford.
Impact Willock received a surprise start after being labeled out the day before the match. He's been training all week and will be good for the trip to Wolves, but he's yet to make the score-sheet in five starts this season, producing two shots on target and three chances created.
OCTOBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Starting against Watford Willock (toe) is in the starting XI for Saturday's match against Watford.
Impact Willock was labeled out by Steve Bruce 24 hours ago, so this is a bit of a surprise Saturday. He's healthy enough to stay in the starting XI, though given his struggles and this issue, it's hard to see him being ready for a full 90.

Out with toe injury Willock will miss Saturday's trip to Watford with a toe injury suffered in training, according to manager Steve Bruce. "Joe's was a complete fluke - unfortunately he kicked the gro...
Impact Combined with a slow start to open the campaign, Willock will now miss a match or two with a toe injury. This will maybe give him some time to watch from the sidelines, having compiled just three shots and two chances created in four starts. His absence points to a possible role for Ryan Fraser or Jeff Hendrick in the midfield.

Ready for Friday Willock (knock) is healthy and available for Friday's match against Leeds, according to manager Steve Bruce. "He (Joe Willock) had a couple of knocks towards the last ten minutes o...
Impact This never seemed like serious injury and that's the case, as Willock should remain in the XI Friday. He's struggled to repeat last season's form and will hope to change that in a decent matchup against a struggling Leeds back line.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up knock in loss Willock had two shots and nine tackles (four won) in Saturday's 4-1 loss against Man United before leaving late with an apparent knock, according to manager Steve Bruce.
Impact Willock has started the last three matches for Newcastle and while this injury doesn't seem serious, there's a chance he could be dropped for Friday's game. He's struggled to recreate last season's form and has managed just two shots across three starts.
SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Fails to take shot in draw Willock had four tackles (two won) and an interception in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Southampton.
Impact The form Willock found last season appears to be gone, as he's managed no shots and one chance created in two starts. A repeat of last season's production was always going to be hard to come by given his position in Newcastle's midfield, something that doesn't lead to consistent fantasy numbers.

AUGUST 13, 2021 • Associated Press
Returns to Newcastle Willock transferred to Newcastle United from Arsenal on Friday.
Impact Willock struggled to break through at Arsenal but a loan spell with Newcastle in 2021 saw him score an impressive eight goals, including a run of scoring in seven consecutive games, from 14 total appearances. Now back at a club where he's shown immense promise, it wouldn't be surprising to see him consistently starting and flourishing along with Miguel Almiron, even if the attack remains a sore point due to the injury-prone performances of Callum Wilson and Allen Saint-Maximin, among others.
AUGUST 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
On bench in friendly Willock is listed on the bench for Sunday's friendly against Chelsea.
Impact Willock had picked up a groin issue in mid-July but now seems to be in good shape ahead of the coming club season. He scored goals in his final seven appearances of the 2020/21 campaign and could be an interesting player to watch amidst a team full of new signings.
AUGUST 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with groin issue Willock missed Arsenal's recent friendly against Hibernian because of a "minor groin issue," according to manager Mikel Arteta.
Impact Willock has been under a lot of speculation since his loan ended at Newcastle, as not many believe he'll stay with the Gunners. He blew up at the end of last season, scoring in seven-straight matches, and that may be enough to get him to stay at Arsenal. The hope is that he can get back to full health and show the team what he provides in preseason.

Continues to set records in win Willock scored once, took three shots (one on target) and made three tackles (two won) in the 2-0 win against Fulham on Sunday.
Impact Willock became just the second player in Newcastle history to score in seven straight appearances. The only other play to do so was the legend Alan Shearer. Willock has boomed onto the stage over the past month or so and he is showing exactly what he can offer when he returns to his parent club Arsenal for next season.

The midfielder scored in his sixth consecutive match making history as the youngest player in the league to do so and only the third Magpie player in the club's history. Willock has showed his true potential over the past month or so and he will most likely get recalled by his parent club Arsenal for next season.
