Out against Betis Cancelo (knee) will not be an option for Sunday's contest against Betis, manager Xavi announced, as reported by Sergi de Juan of the AS USA.

Impact Cancelo is still not back with the team despite making the team sheet in the club's last contest against Osasuna in the Spanish Super Cup semifinals, having yet to return after picking up a knee injury. This will be his first game in league play that he misses with the injury and will hope it is the only one as he will attempt to be available by next Sunday's match against Villarreal. With fellow defender Andreas Christensen (undisclosed) and Inigo Martinez (hamstring) also being out, Joules Kounde will most likely be forced to take over in the center of the defense, leaving Segri Roberto or Pau Cubarsi to take over Cancelo's spot on the right flank of the defense.
