Leaving for AFCON Onyeka is departing for AFCON with Nigeria, and will miss at least three weeks.
Impact Onyeka hasn't played in the last two months even when fit, and has hardly been in the squad this season, so his absence shouldn't be a big blow. Still the midfielder will leave Brentford down some depth if any injuries pop up during a busy part of the schedule.
DECEMBER 15, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Assists off bench Onyeka assisted once to go with zero corners and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 defeat versus Sunderland.
Impact Onyeka provided the key pass for the lone Brentford goal Saturday as the Bees fell in a narrow 2-1 defeat at Sunderland. The assist marked the midfielder's first Premier League goal contribution since the 2023 - 2024 campaign after he spent the 2024 - 2025 season on loan at FC Augsburg. Onyeka has appeared in each of Brentford's first three league fixtures and created one chance across 63 minutes of play.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Wins penalty as a sub Onyeka recorded no stats in Sunday's 3-1 loss versus Nottingham Forest.
Impact Onyeka came on with 22 minutes remaining in the game, and his side was 3-0 down. He won a penalty, which was scored by Igor Thiago. Last season, he only played a total of 23 minutes across two games and has nearly matched that in the season opener this year.
AUGUST 18, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Returning from loan Onyeka is returning to Brentford following a successful loan spell in Augsburg, Augsburg announced.
Impact Onyeka was a major part of the starting XI in Germany, making 31 appearances (30 starts) and adding an assist. It was a lot of minutes for the midfielder, who made himself a mainstay with Augsburg. It's unclear what his role will look like back with Brentford, where he was more of a depth option in the past three seasons.
MAY 20, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Creates chance Onyeka had one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 81st minute.
Impact Onyeka created a single chance during Sunday's draw and failed to put a shot on goal throughout the match. The midfielder isn't a major offensive threat, but he does offer something on both sides of the ball. With Augsburg struggling in the attack Onyeka will likely have some limited upside.
APRIL 21, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Clears ban Onyeka is no longer suspended and is an option for the club moving forward.
Impact Onyeka is back from his ban, missing one match due to his yellow card accumulation. That said, he will be an option for Saturday's match against Heidenheim. He is a regular starter, starting in 14 of his 15 appearances with the club, so he should return to that spot immediately.
JANUARY 20, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Suspended Sunday Onyeka is set for a one-match ban due to yellow card accumulation.
Impact Onyeka will sit out Sunday's contest against Werder Bremen, reaching his yellow card limit after consecutive games with a caution. This will force a change for the club as he is a regular starter, with Arne Maier as a likely replacement. He will next be an option to face Heidenheim on Jan. 25.
JANUARY 16, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Two shots in loss Onyeka generated two shots (zero on goal) in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 15th minute.
Impact Onyeka took a pair of shots, but wasn't able to trouble Alexander Nubel's net. The midfielder did well, and caused some issues, but with the team around him struggling he couldn't really push the backline. Onyeka will need to step up in a big way as Augsburg look to cause upsets in the second half.
JANUARY 13, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Six crosses against Hoffenheim Onyeka registered one shot (zero on goal), six crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Hoffenheim.
Impact In a rare showing of volume, Onyeka attempted more than three crosses. Three crosses were his season high before Sunday, and he attempted only four of them between September and October.
NOVEMBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Assists in return Onyeka returned from injury and provided one assist during Tuesday's 3-0 DFB Pokal win over Schalke.
Impact Onyeka picked up a calf injury against Dortmund but returned mid-week and provided an assist. The fact he was able to return so quickly is a great sign that the injury wasn't any sort of serious concern.
OCTOBER 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Leaves with calf injury Onyeka was forced off in the second half of Saturday's match against Dortmund with a calf injury.
Impact Onyeka left the match in the 82nd minute succumbing to injury and being replaced by Arne Maier. Onyeka's status for next week's match against Wolfsburg is in doubt.
OCTOBER 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Shines in Bundesliga debut Onyeka assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), one cross (one accurate) and two chances created in Sunday's 3-1 win against FC St. Pauli. He was subbed off due to injury...
Impact Onyeka got the start in his Bundesliga debut and made a strong impression by delivering an accurate cross to Phillip Tietz, resulting in his squad's second goal of the match. He also showed well on the defensive side winning all five of his tackle attempts, nabbing two interceptions and blocking two shots before subbing out in the 83rd minute.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Loaned to Augsburg Onyeka completed a loan to Augsburg from Brentford, the club announced.
Impact Onyeka is on the move to the Bundesliga with Augsburg. The midfielder wasn't getting much playing time with Brentford and should be far more valuable with Augsburg. Onyeka could take on an immediate starting role with Augsburg after the break.
AUGUST 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back on pitch Onyeka (face) came off the bench to play 26 minutes during Sunday's 1-1 preseason draw to Watford.
Impact Onyeka was back in preseason action Sunday after he was forced off early last Thursday with a facial injury. He is also just returning from an injury to end last campaign, working his way back to full form since. The midfielder is expected to be available for the opening Premier League match against Crystal Palace, where he is set for a strong bench role for the bees.
AUGUST 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Forced off in friendly Onyeka (face) took a hit to the face and was forced off during Thursday's friendly with Benfica.
Impact Onyeka was returning from a knock he suffered at the end of the 2023/24 campaign but had to come off early due to a blow to the face. The midfielder played about 40 minutes and seemed to have overcome his knock before suffering the new injury. Unless it's more serious than originally thought, Onyeka should be ready for the start of the Premier League season.
JULY 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Depth option in midfield Onyeka (undisclosed) registered 26 appearances (11 starts) for Brentford during the 2023/24 Premier League season, finishing with one goal, two assists, 37 tackles, 23 interception...
Impact Onyeka ended the 2023/24 season on the sidelines after missing the final two matches of the campaign with an undisclosed injury. Even when healthy, Onyeka was a depth option in midfield, and that role shouldn't change for the 2024/25 campaign.
JUNE 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up training injury Onyeka missed Saturday's 2-1 win over Bournemouth due to a training injury, according to manager Thomas Frank. "Frank picked up a minor injury in training yesterday."
Impact Onyeka has hardly seen the pitch even when fully fit of late, coming off the bench in four of his last six matches and going unused in the other two. The midfielder remains a depth option even if he can get fit before the final match of the Premier League.
MAY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Scores as limited reserve Onyeka scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 2-0 victory versus Sheffield United.
Impact Unfortunately for Onyeka, he went from being a regular starter for a month to a reserve by the beginning of April. Despite playing nine minutes across his last three appearances and logging only one minute Saturday, he finally has his first goal of the 2023-24 Premier League.

Totals assist Onyeka assisted once to go with one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Chelsea. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 73rd minute.
Impact Onyeka recorded only his second assist of the season and his first since Nov 4 during Saturday's draw. He's been unused off the bench for most of the campaign with nine starts in 20 appearances, recording 34 tackles (21 won), 20 interceptions and 11 chances created.
MARCH 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Decent on both sides of pitch Onyeka generated three shots (two on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
Impact Onyeka got his first start since returning from AFCON, putting up a decent display in all areas of the field Tuesday. He was okay in the attack with his three shots and one cross but was even better in the defense with his two tackles and four interceptions. The midfielder will hope to maintain the role in the starting XI, as before the City match he had only started six times in 17 appearances.
FEBRUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back with team Onyeka (AFCON) is back with the team and is an option for Saturday's match against Liverpool, the club announced Friday.
Impact Onyeka is back in Brentford after his service with Nigeria during AFCON 2023, ending his four-match absence from the squad. The club will be happy to have the player back to add more depth to their midfield, but he shouldn't be expected to see much time in the starting XI now that he has returned, as the midfielder has only started in six matches this season. He will most likely be selected for the Liverpool contest but will only serve off the bench, probably still getting time at some point as a substitute.
FEBRUARY 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Linking up with Nigeria Onyeka was called up by Nigeria for AFCON 2024, ruling him out for three weeks.
Impact Onyeka is set for three weeks on the sideline after being called up by Nigeria. The midfielder is a major blow to the first team, with 16 appearances (six starts) before the call up. Still the return of Mathias Jensen should paper over the blow of losing Onyeka.
JANUARY 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Available for return Onyeka is available for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace after serving a one-match ban.
Impact Onyeka picked up his fifth yellow card against Aston Villa but is now eligible to return to the starting XI. The midfielder was actually on the bench more often than not before the ban, but he could return to some major minutes with short rest possibly forcing some rotation against Crystal Palace.
