Announces retirement after season Higuain announced Friday that he will retire at the end of the 2021 season.
Impact Higuain brings to an end an 18-year career that spanned from Argentina to Turkey to Mexico, and he has been a stalwart in MLS since 2012. He posted 59 goals and 51 assists in 210 appearances across seven-and-a-half years with Columbus, before joining up with D.C. United and now Inter Miami. There are two games left in the regular season for Miami and the 37-year-old attacking midfielder, but there is virtually no chance for them to sneak into the playoffs meaning next weekend's Decision Day clash against the Revs will almost certainly be Higuain's last.

Impact Higuain was magical in the win Saturday. This was by far his best performance of the season and it showed. The midfielder not only created a plethora of opportunities, but he also kicked off the goal-fest for Miami. Impact Higuain set up Indiana Vassilev's late winner with a cross on Sunday after subbing in during the second half against Nashville. It was his third assist of the season, though he will likely continue being used as an impact substitute next weekend against third-placed NYCFC.

Impact Higuain was in a decent form here again as he's now started in back to back matches keeping Blaise Matuidi on the bench. The former has now mounted three shots, four chances created and seven crosses in those two affairs and has been on set pieces partially but given Matuidi doesn't have an injury he could be back in the lineup at any moment which could get Higuain back to the bench.
