Eric Smith - Plays for national team Smith (undisclosed) started and played 45 minutes for Sweden during Monday's loss to Norway in their preparation for the World Cup.
Impact Smith recovered from a minor issue that forced him to miss the last Bundesliga game of the season, and he's now expected to be in contention with Victor Lindelof and Ken Sema for minutes at the international level. The versatile player has recently featured as a central defender or midfielder for St. Pauli, delivering a rare combination of high clearance numbers along with set-piece tasks. While he might lack corner kicks and perhaps see limited minutes for his country, he could still be trusted for defensive production whenever he's on the pitch.

Conor Metcalfe - Provides assist in loss Metcalfe assisted once to go with two shots (one on goal), six crosses (four accurate) and three corners in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Wolfsburg.
Impact Metcalfe started in Saturday's 3-1 Bundesliga home loss to Wolfsburg and picked up the assist on Abdoulie Ceesay's second-half goal, though the Australian midfielder struggled to consistently break through Wolfsburg's aggressive, high-press midfield for most of the match. He still finished with two shots and a season-high four chances created, but it wasn't enough to help St. Pauli keep their hopes of survival in the top flight alive. Metcalfe wraps up the season with two assists, 10 chances created, 23 crosses, and 15 tackles across 25 Bundesliga appearances (three starts), and will now turn his attention to the World Cup with Australia.

Abdoulie Ceesay - Scores off bench in defeat Ceesay scored one goal to go with three shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Wolfsburg. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 88th minute.
Impact Ceesay got St. Pauli's lone goal in the 57th minute, coming off the bench at halftime and making an instant impact by blasting past Kamil Grabara, though it wasn't enough to keep his side alive in the second half. He stayed a live wire after entering the match, constantly pressing Wolfsburg's center-backs and getting off three shots as St. Pauli tried to swing momentum before Wolfsburg eventually put the game away. Ceesay closes out the season with three goals and 11 shots across 20 Bundesliga appearances without a single start.
MAY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Nikola Vasilj - Eight saves not enough Vasilj recorded eight saves and allowed three goals, but also an own goal in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Wolfsburg.
Impact Vasilj produced eight saves in Saturday's 3-1 Bundesliga home loss to Wolfsburg, fighting all game long to keep St. Pauli afloat, including two sharp close-range stops on Adam Daghim in the first half that briefly kept the match within reach before he unfortunately bundled a corner into his own net in the 64th minute to make it 3-0, with VAR confirming the goal after St. Pauli's appeals for a foul were waved away. His shot-stopping showed both his individual quality and the sheer pressure Wolfsburg applied throughout, but the own goal ended up being the knockout blow that killed off any realistic chance of a comeback and ultimately sealed St. Pauli's relegation after two straight Bundesliga seasons. Vasilj finishes the campaign with five clean sheets and 125 saves across 34 Bundesliga starts.

Eric Smith - Set to miss final league match Smith (undisclosed) is ruled out for Saturday's clash against Wolfsburg.
Impact Smith has been unable to pass the testing that had been set to determine his availability, confirming his absence after the unidentified injury had left him as a late call heading into the weekend and representing a major blow for a side set to be without one of their most dependable starters. The defender has made 26 starts in 27 appearances this season, and his unavailability forces the coaching staff to turn to Hauke Wahl, Tomoya Ando and Adam Dzwigala to make up the backline in his place. His situation will be monitored closely in the coming days as the club hopes the injury proves to be a short-term setback ahead of a possible relegation playoff to remain in the Bundesliga.

This is a rough turn for the defender who has been a starter almost the entire season, recording 22 starts in 23 appearances, earning two clean sheets in that time. This is a major point to watch for the club, as he is a starter when fit, notching 26 starts in 27 appearances. That said, he has recorded 16 starts in 22 appearances this season, earning one goal and two clean sheets.

Dzwigala's return to the training pitch is a positive sign that the worst of the illness wave may be passing for the Hamburger side.

St. Pauli are in the relegation zone in 17th place, but have a chance to survive in a crucial relegation head-to-head battle during next week's season finale against Wolfsburg.

Adam Dzwigala - Unavailable Saturday Dzwigala is not in the squad for Satruday's clash with Leipzig due to an undisclosed injury.
